Colgate ActiBrush
by NotMyToothbrush
I have used Oral-B electric toothbrushes fro practically all my life. Therefore, when mine broke and I couldn't afford a new one just yet, I opted for pretty much the cheapest electric powered toothbrush I could find, the actibrush from Colgate.
The toothbrush felt pretty cheap to hold but yet still quite weighty - mainly ... because of the battery which had to be placed inside of it. It was quite comfortable to hold though and I knew I would have no issues fro holding it for the 5 minutes I would be brushing my teeth for each morning and evening.
The brushes are very age-neutral so would be suitable for people of all ages - including children, adults and the elderly.
I bought it from ASDA for about £7 and used it that night after putting a battery into it. This was a brand new battery and even then, it hardly felt like my mouth was even getting cleaned. The oscillating motion was so weak and the bristles so limp and nowhere near as stiff as I was used to. I used this toothbrush fro about a week until I couldn't stand it any longer, I was worried that my teeth were going to get damaged by not being cleaned properly so I have to fork out for another Oral-B one.
Even though I had onyl used the brush fro a week, it already ate its way through the charge in the brand new battery I had put in it at the start of the week. Read the complete review |

Oral-B Vitality Sensitive Toothbrush
by Coffeetiere
I have had two of these Oral B Vitality Sensitive toothbrushes. The first one lasted quite well, for about two and second less well, only for about 18 months.
Looking online these electric toothbrush cost about £17-£20. I bought my first one when it was on offer and seem to remember it was about £12, which was part the ... reason why I got it. I wanted an electric toothbrush, but not a really expensive one as I couldn't see the point.
The toothbrush comes with a charging lead attached to a stand the toothbrush sits in. This lead plugs into the shaver socket - it is a two pin plug. I often charged mine outside the bathroom so had to buy a converter plug to use with it. To begin with the toothbrush charged very quickly and lasted a long time on one full charge, around a week. As the toothbrush got older it needed charging more often until it basically needed charging all the time. The second one of these I had needed charging after every clean before it was 18 months old, which got very annoying. Then by 18 months it wouldn't charge enough for one clean, no matter how long I let it charge for.
There is a two minute timer on this toothbrush, although I always ignored it and therefore the timer got out of sink with my clean. After two minutes the toothbrush makes a sort of "jerk" vibration out of sink with thr normal motion of the brush, this is how you know the two minutes are up. It's s good idea for kids but I don't feel that for adults it's necessary, I just clean my teeth as much or as little as they need.
This toothbrush comes with one spare toothbrush head. I usually bought replacement heads when I saw them on offer at about £4 for four. I think you can buy other style heads in the Oral B range as the socket for the head is the same on other Oral B toothbrushes. I like the head of this toothbrush as the brush part is small and round, about 1/2cm in diameter, allowing it to really get it to my back teeth which is really good as I have wisdom teeth ehich are very hard to clean eith bigger toothbrush heads. The head pulsates and vibrates to shake plaque loose and brush it away.
The on/off button is on the main handle of the brush and lies under your thumb as you brush. The switch is under a sort of rubber covering so water can't seep in. The brush is therefore very straightforward to use.
I really liked this toothbrush, hence I bought another when my first one died on me, however I was really disappointed with the life span of the second one and since it broke I have gone back to using manual toothbrushes. This experience kind of put me off electronic toothbrushes!
I therefore am only going to give this brush 3 out of 5. Read the complete review |

Oral-B Professional Care 600
by bluebell190
I was bought this electric toothbrush for Christmas, although I already had one, it was getting old, I have had it 5 years! I never asked for this toothbrush, I just got given it by my brother! This is the Braun Oral-B Professional care rechargeable toothbrush which comes in a range of colours, I am reviewing the baby blue one. It also ... comes in green and pink. Looking on google at prices, it is currently selling at around £25-£30 on places like Amazon and Argos.
This is a good price for this toothbrush, I would have been happy to pay that if I had bought it myself. You only get one toothbrush head though, no spares with it. The first thing I noticed when going to use this toothbrush was how lightweight it is. It is so light, but does not feel flimsy. It feels good quality and well made still, but nice and light so your hand doesn't ache when brushing!
Electric toothbrushes are supposed to clean you teeth better than manual toothbrushes, and I have found this to be the case. I have owned an electric toothbrush for 5 years and when I go back to my manual toothbrush when I have forgotten to charge my electric one, you can definitely tell the difference. When I use this oral b toothbrush, it does definitely leave your teeth feeling cleaner and smoother than a normal manual one, however, noway near as good as my old one, although this cost three times the price of this oral b one. This toothbrush does clean your teeth well, and is comfortable to use, but you can tell its a cheap one.
The head that came with this toothbrush feels soft when it is cleaning my teeth and even feels soft on my gums, it is really gentle, but still cleans really fast and really well. You are supposed to clean your teeth for a minimum for 2 minutes and this toothbrush vibrates when 2 minutes is up. It also vibrates every 30 seconds, which I find annoying, but I think most do this as my old one did too. I usually clean mine for slightly longer than 2 minutes, and the battery on this toothbrush only seems to last me a week, and I have to recharge it again, which also takes a long time, I leave it on over night and it is done in the morning. It would be nice if the battery lasted a little longer than just a week. The toothbrush also has a light that comes on to show that it is ready to be recharged which is handy.
This tooth brush handle is baby blue, and white. The head which fixes onto the tooth brush handle is white, and the actual brush is a small circle about the size of a 5p. It is nice and small and feels comfortable in your mouth, and is easy to move about. This toothbrush looks really nice, even though it is cheap, it looks nice out in the bathroom. The head is a standard head, but you can get lots of different types of heads which fit this toothbrush you are not stuck using this head if you don't like it. Lots of oral b head fit this toothbrush. There is also only one speed on this toothbrush, which isn't too fast or too slow, it is a good speed to clean your teeth efficiently.
The toothbrush, like most other electric toothbrushes comes with a two pin plug to charge it, this is fine for me as I can plug it straight in my mirror in my bathroom which has a shaver adaptor in it, but you will have to buy a three pin adaptor to use this if you don't have one. The cord to charge it is rather short, but this is not a problem for me.
Overall, for a cheap electric toothbrush, it is nice to use, leaves your teeth clean, and it is so easy to use. I would recommend it if you are looking for a cheap one to try, I am happy with it, but from my experience it is definitely worth investing in a really expensive one, as you get such an amazing clean, which I don't feel with this one.
