Advantages: Good value , chunky , rechargeable, sturdy , stable base , fast oscillation
Disadvantages: No replacement heads included in pack
This review refers to the Oral B advance power rechargeable electric toothbrush which looks the same as the picture except the charger stands a little lower and deeper. Rather than try to get mine Iadded I have opted for this one as it is the same .
In my quest to save my remaining teeth from becoming tombstones I have recently invested in an electric toothbrush . I had an electric toothbrush many years ago but found I preferred using a traditional one . However I have been pleasantly surprised with my Oral B .
The first pleasant surprise was I saw it for sale at my local chemist's whilst I was picking up a prescription . Waiting for it to be dispensed I was having a browse with no intention of buying anything when I saw the Oral B rechargeable electric tooth brush for £9.99 . The label showed the full price as £19.99 which is still not bad for such a product . Being made by Braun I felt it should be a good product .
After my purchase I thought I must give this a go as soon as I get home . Here I came across a typical problem . The product was packaged in one of those hard, clear plastic covers which seems as if it is stuck to your purchase . After much tugging and pulling I gave up and went off in search of the largest and sharpest pair of scissors we own . Even then it was a fight to get the toothbrush out but I won the battle , eventually .
The toothbrush is fully charged and ready to use .It is mainy white with a little blue on the handle and the bristles . The handle is about eight inches high and nice and sturdy . For anyone with grip problems such as arthritis or carpal tunnel it is nice and wide and easy to get hold of .There are two simple press buttons . One for on and one for off . Simple .
The detatchable head is packaged in it's own wrapper in the main packing .It is easy to attach .You just push it in and voil'a .What I like about this electric brush is it has a really fast spin speed . It has a rotary , oscillating brush head that fair zooms around . However it does only have the one speed . The brush attachment is slim and long and so reaches well into the back part of your mouth for those hard to reach teeth .
The product includes a charger and this is pretty basic and simple . It is a small base with a raised part on which the toothbrush fits . It connects to the elctricity supply via a two pin plug so no doubt like me you need to use an adaptor . It stand nice and stable .
The toothbrush seems to run quite a while before it needs recharging . I suppose it depends how much you are using it . I tend to charge once a week whether needed or not just so it always up and running . It charges quickly and if it has lost power you will know by the reduced speed of the brush .
For me I still use a conventional toothbrush on the odd occasion as I like the control of knowing which nook and cranny I am cleaning . Overall though I am very pleased with my purchase . The price was really good and so are the results . My teeth feel really squeaky clean .
The only other downside was there were no spare heads in the pack or for sale at the chemists . I have bought a pack of two replacement heads from Asda but at £6.58 for the pack they are not cheap . Still if you think of it in terms of buying two new traditional toothbrushes at £3.29 it does not sound quite so bad .
Electric rechargeable toothbrushes must be on offer at chemists at the moment . Maybe there are new ranges coming out and this is old stock . I have since seen more and bought Hubby one by a different maker , so a review will follow after the trial period . Why not pick up a bargain yourself but make sure there are replacement heads avaiable or else it will not be such a bargain .
Recommended as a good value , no frills , rechargeable toothbrush which does the job .

- 08/08/07 My experience of Braun electric toothbrushes has not been good. The rechargeable battery eventually stops recharging and then you have no alternative but to throw the whole thing away. The battery cannot be replaced. Mine died after a couple of years. I now use a brush with removable rechargeable batteries (Colgate Motion). |

- 16/07/07 Great review. I have a battery operated one as my back up whenever my Sonic brush needs charging - Braun Oral B heads are available everywhere and as such usually cheap as chips! |
