Advantages: good battery life, easy to use, great results

Disadvantages: none

I have been using electric toothbrushes for over 10 years and the difference they make to your teeth compared to a standard toothbrush is amazing. A few years ago the sonic toothbrushes came into fashion and I swapped by standard electric toothbrush for one of these. However after a trip to the hygenist I was told that this was not a good toothbrush and that I should buy one of Oral B's professional care brushes.

I went home and checked this with my sister (a dentist) and she agreed that the professional care brushes are now the best on the market. I decided to go for this 8000 model which although pricey is one of the best.

You can pick these up now for about £45. They were more expensive a couple of years ago when I got mine.

The toothbrush comes with a base for charging and 2 heads with colour coded rings - perfect for different members of the family. The bristles are in a compact round shape which makes it very easy to brush all teeth even in tricky gaps if you have crooked teeth. The brush will vibrate on your teeth which is a strange sensation if you have never used an electric toothbrush before but you soon get used to it.

The brush will pulse after 30 seconds. You are supposed to spend 30 seconds on each quadrant of your mouth. I know I should but I don't bother with this.

The toothbrush also has a flashing red light and lets out a beep when the battery needs charging. This may come as a bit of a shock the first time you hear it but it is actually a useful feature.

I was told that once the toothbrush gets a couple of years old you should keep it permanently plugged in as the battery doesn't hold the charge as well and the brush speed isn't as good. So far I have not had to do this. I find the battery holds it's charge well and the brush speed is fine.

My teeth are so much cleaner from using this brush and I no longer see a hygenist seperately from my dentist. It really does keep plaque at bay.

The toothbrush is easy to clean, is comfortable to hold and has a waterproof handle - you can brush teeth in shower if in a rush!!

I think at the price you can pick this up for now it is definately worth the money.

Summary: Great toothbrush - definately buy it
