This is easily one of the best electric toothbrushes I have ever used and I will say that if you are able and willing to spend roughly £100 on an electric toothbrush to seriously consider this model. The box arrived; larger than usual - the packaging was also unnecessarily wasteful to say the least. In the box you find the main toothbrush unit, 3 toothbrush heads, a timer, a charging dock, a travel case and instructions.
The toothbrush unit is your average size, mainly white in colour with two buttons found on the front of it. The main circular button controls power on and off whilst the slightly smaller triangular button is used to change the brushing mode. I found this latter button a bit small and fiddly but had no other problems with it. The toothbrush heads fit easily on to the unit as long as you align so the bristles face forward and clips on without having to be forceful. Removing them is easy enough by giving it a slight tug but doesn't look like it will come of on its own accord.
Setting up the clock, as well as the date and day of the week is easily done by removing the back cover and accessing the controls, however first time round, removing the cover was easier said than done and I felt I was having to put too much effort in to doing so. However, it did easily clip back on. Braun also don't supply cheap batteries and you will find 2 duracell batteries in the unit with two spares!
Syncing the toothbrush to the timer takes no effort at all! Turn the toothbrush on within close proximity of the timer and it will start. To the right of the timer, there is a circle split into 4. For every 30 seconds that you clean your teeth, each quarter of the circle lights up until you have been cleaning your teeth for 2 minutes in which time a smily face appears. Each 30 seconds is designed to make you clean different part of our teeth to ensure that you clean as much of your mouth as possible per session. If you do 25% extra time than recommended then the face winks!
You can change the brushing style throughout the time you spend cleaning your teeth, and you can even increase the time to 45 seconds which totals up as 3 minutes. The different brushing modes that are included include clean (4 x 30 seconds), sensitive, massage, extended clean (4 x 45 seconds) and polish. The sensitive mode is less rough than the normal clean mode, massage is aimed at cleaning your gums whilst polish is mostly aimed at removing stains and helping make teeth whiter. Please note that this DOES NOT have a sensor light which amazon states in its description!
The initial charge of the toothbrush took about 8 hours to being fully charged. The toothbrush uses a shaver plug but you are given a mains adapter. It is easy to know when the toothbrush is charged because the flashing red light will turn to green on the toothbrush body. The full charge will last about a week, 2 lots of brushing 7 days a week!
I haven't used the travel case yet, but the case will only fit the body and a toothbrush, but not the charger! It is also possible to sync more than one toothbrush to one timer but I can't test that and don't really see the point seeing you get a timer with another unit you might buy!
