Advantages: quick to charge. easy to use. does a really good job.
Disadvantages: none really - adapters can be bought for very little
Ever since hubby was faced with a recent bill from his dentist for £4000 I've become even more paranoid about caring for my teeth. I suppose they're in pretty good nick for a 58 year old ex-smoker but you never can tell....
I had a brilliant supersonic toothbrush for several years but found it increasingly difficult to purchase replacement heads for it and, a few weeks ago, it finally 'died' on me.
Hubby bought me a middle-of-the range toothbrush which was adequate but i soon noticed my teeth didn't feel as clean nor as smooth. Luckily for me my eldest daughter asked what I'd like for a Birthday present and I requested a new toothbrush as I knew sh'ed been doing some thorough research on them and was pleased with her latest purchase.
True to her word The Toothbrush arrived all neatly packed in a rather large (but smart) box which I'm sure anyone would be thrilled to receive. I didn't like to ask her the price she paid as the RRP is around £150 but my daughter's a savvy shopper and the box was sent from Amazon so I'm guessing there was a good offer on this Oral B Triumph 5000.
I was, however, a little daunted when I saw the contents inside the box as it looked so complicated and I'm only just catching up with the 21st century! but with the help from my daughter I soon found it easy to understand and therefore use.
Luckily we have a 2 point socket in the bathrooms so this wasn't a problem. We plugged it in to cahrage and I was amazed how quick it was - an hour later I was putting it to the test and after a good brushing I could already feel the difference. The longer I've owned it and the more I've used it I have to say this is the BEST toothbrush I've ever used in my life.
It not only does a very thorough job but it is also quite fun to use because it also comes with a wireless Smartguide which informs you how long you've been brushing, rewards you with a smiley face and if I'm lucky I get a big wink from my androgynous 'friend' on the screen. The Smartguide also warns me if I'm using too much pressure which I think is important as too harsh brushing can damage the gums.
The brush itself sits neatly in a sturdy unobtrusive holder (base plate) and therefore takes up little space in the bathroom. The replacement heads lie neatly and hygienically in a separate unit which can just be stored in the drawer until needed. A charger is included which is easy to use and takes standard batteries.
It's a comfortable toothbrush which is easy to hold, doesn't slide or slip about in the hands and isn't too heavy. There are basically 2 buutons - one acts as the on-off switch whilst the other allows you to choose which setting you'd prefer -
Daily Clean mode
Sensitive mode
Polish mode
Deep Clean mode
I've tried all of them and they all do what they claim to - fantastic!
The kit comes with a very comprehensive booklet which is invaluable and easy to understand as directions for use are given in both text and pictures. To be honest I'm one to read leaflets but this was informative and I even see that you can mount it on the wall (handy or what?) It also shows the correct position to hold the toothbrush, how to clean (very simple), how to change the heads etc. There are also instructions on 'synchronizing' and 'deactivating the radio transmission' but I haven't got round to reading these yet.
Other great things to know -
- it has a 30 day money back guarantee
- claims to provide 'superior whitening in 3 weeks vs Oral-B Professional Care
- there a 2 year warranty
- states it's an 'ultimate plaque removal system from hard to reach areas'
- claims to be gentle on teeth and gums
- 'cups each tooth for a 3d clean
I cannot state that I've noticed any difference in the whitening of my teeth but certainly I've noticed that the cleverly-designed cup bristles DO reach in those hard-to-reach areas and that overall both my teeth and gums feel really clean and I feel that I've just come out of a dental hygienist's surgery.
AS you can probably tell from this review I'm fond of this appliance and would have no hesitation in recommending it to everyone.
