Oral-B Triumph 5000
Advantages: Gives your mouth a deep clean, safe and very well built
Disadvantages: If you have sensitive teeth, the faster setting can sometimes hurt.
I used to use an electric toothbrush several years ago but changed back to manual. I recently went to the dentists to have a check up, all my teeth were good however i was brushing my teeth too hard and my gums were starting to recede earlier than they should so he recommended investing back in an electric toothbrush for christmas. After doing a lot of research, i chose to buy the £70 oral-b Triumph 5000 for christmas last year. Boy was it worth the money! After only the first brush my mouth felt cleaner and i started to wonder why i had ever gone back to manual. It came with three different brush heads, with two of them having little plastic flappy bits which get knocked about by the vibrations and helps to remove unwanted food lodgers in the back of your mouth. The toothbrush also has a built in timer which vibrates at 30 second intervals before doing a big vibrate at 2 minutes to let you know that your time is up.
What i found amazing was that the charging area at the bottom of the toothbrush was covered in plastic, as was the base unit which means that there is no risk of an electric shock should water be accidentally spilt onto it. This is a big upgrade form the old electric toothbrushes. You also get an electric timer which sits on the side in the bathroom which indicates which area of your mouth you should be brushing at the the given time which i found helps you to clean areas of your teeth which you may not have bothered with if you had a manual brush. The stop/start button is very robust and depending on the number of times you press it, it gives a different setting of speed if you have particularly sensitive teeth like me. This is useful because sometimes i find that the high speed can hurt my teeth when they're feeling extra sensitive but normally it's fine.
The weight and size of the brush is good which because i have big hands means i'm not fiddling around with manoeuvres all the time.
Extras that are included are the holdall for the brush heads which is attached to the base unit so you can tidy the away each morning and night without them touching the bathroom tiles or other contaminent-infested areas. The base unit is all dishwasher-able if it gets really mucky and the plastic charging bit means you can just wipe off with a damp cloth any muck that gets on it making this brush extremely easy to clean. All-in all a brilliant toothbrush which has reinstated my trust in electric toothbrushes and i probably won't go back to manual again.
Summary: A brilliant toothbrush
