Advantages: Powerful, Long battery life

Disadvantages: Need to buy replacement heads which cost more than replacing a toothbrush

I have always been a fan of the good old fashioned manual toothbrush and I'll be honest and tell you that I have chosen a toothbrush previously based on the fact that there were pretty butterflies on the handle (honest). That all changed the day I was bought the Vitality "White and Clean". This is the same as the Sensitive brush body with a slightly different head (the white and clean has a small rubber polishing nodule) although I do also have the sensitive headswhich are a softer bristle and no polishing nodule.

The very first use made me realise what I had been missing. After charging for just over an hour I set the brush to work and I could feel the polishing nodule in the centre of the brush head really cleaning away the day's grimey feeling.

I sometimes suffer from sensitive teeth so I was a little bit concerned about giving them a battering with the brush but I needn't have worried. With a handy 2 minute timer, the brush vibrates 3 times at the end to signal that you're done. The power in the brush from the initial charge lasted about 4 days before I started to notice the performance level reduce so I popped it in the charger whilst I had dinner and hey presto it was charged for another week.

The brush has a nice chunky handle with a softer rubber covered area to water protect the on/off button which is a simple bump in the centre of the handle front. Each head pops on and off with ease and each brush comes with two heads. Replacement heads usually start at around £5 but you can buy heads which perform different functions such as orthodontic care heads and floss action heads - most oral b heads are interchangable between the brush bodies.

Cleaning is minimal, a rinse under the tap and occassional washing the handle under the tap will do, like any other brush.

The brush also comes with a 2 year manufacturers guarantee.

You can buy the Oral B range widely in places such as Argos, Boots, Asda and online Amazon stock a wide range. During the festive period they are half price and are available from around £12 and up - this model is currently on sale for £17.49 and full price is usually £34.99 at Argos.

Now that I have an electric toothbrush I don't think I'll be buying my butterfly brushes anymore!!

Summary: Buy while it's half price, not sure I'd buy the toothbrush at fullprice!
