Advantages: Great clean, simple to use.

Disadvantages: Time between charges

Mine is the Vitality Sonic but does not have a timer - have I been short changed?

Nevertheless, this is a seriously good rechargeable battery toothbrush and I have used it for around a year (another half price bargain from Tesco - I must curb these urges).

It consists of the the main body containing an on/off button and the brush head simply clicks onto the top. The brush head itself is the traditional rectangular shape (not round) and is small enough to easily get round those awkward back teeth. Bristles are not hard or too soft meaning that unless you have gum problems, it's unlikely to cause bleeding. Saying that, I'm sure this brush would help allieviate gum problems such as gingivitis with regular use due to it's deep cleaning effect.

The bristles have a two tone colour that wear down with use, alerting you to when the head needs changing. Replacement heads can be purchased readily at most outlets and expect to pay around £8.99 for a pack of two.

The sonic action gives a vibration effect that thankfully does not filter down the handle so it's pleasant and easy to use. I was a little worried before-hand as I wondered if this sonic action could have a detrimental effect on crowns but I checked with my dentist who assured me it would not.

Not the top of the range model as it doesn't have a timer telling you when you have brushed for the requisite amount of time but is such an accessory really necessary?

The clean itself is superb and your teeth really do feel much smoother and cleaner than when using a manual toothbrush. I can't say I've noticed much in terms of whitening but that must surely be down to the type of toothpaste used.

Perhaps the only fly in the ointment is that there is no warning when the charge is waning. There's a change in the sound only around 20 seconds before it stops completely. Finish using it manually and then charge it up. The charger is neat and compact and the brush fits snugly on a little protrusion. It fits into a shaver socket (two pin) but you can buy adaptors to convert to fit into a normal three pin socket. The cord could be longer as once my charger is plugged in it's fully stretched making it to the edge of the sink. No worry about electrocution as it is all encased.

All in all I've found it a fantastic purchase and we all know how important it is to keep teeth and gums healthy. I certainly wouldn't go back to a manual toothbrush.

Summary: An excellent sonic toothbrush that will keep your teeth in tip-top condition
