Advantages: Easy to use and cheaper then an electric toothbrush
Disadvantages: Ugly Looking but hey it's a toothbrush!
I love those toothpaste adverts, you know, the ones where the beautiful supermodels smile at you and it seems like all the light in the room is reflected from their mouths. It's amazingly funny how their teeth make that great little pingy noise and glare a blinding whiteness as if they have been bathing their teeth in Daz for a week. Isn't it funny that some adverts are still living in the past?? Well Colgate aren't with their brand new product - the battery operated toothbrush!
Just bobbing around Tesco's I first saw this product. "An electric toothbrush for £12?" was my first thought and well.. what's the difference? Both of them need charging except the battery ones are ready straight away. I needed a new toothbrush desperately and seen as my usual one costs around £3 i kinda got mom to think this was the bargain of the century. A bargain she thought and bought one straight away :)
Swinging my lickle Tesco's bag all the way home (in the car!) I was really excited to try it out so just before dinner i brushed my teeth :) opening the packet I noticed something really cool and that was the batteries included! Yeppers, 2 AA batteries and a brushy head! So, sticking it all together i was really chuffed.. The design wasn't really all that nice because it was kinda white and fat but it still looked like a lovely toothbrush!
Turning it on the little head rotated like mad and when i put it on my teeth it was crazy. I had to stop myself a few times from using it like a normal toothbrush. this was much to the dissaprovement of my gums that got a bit of a bashing. Once i had finished brushing i really couldnt help running my tongue over my newly polished teeth just like on telly! They felt so lovely and soft! My gums were bleeding a bit but I have since discovered that is good. When they bleed it means that a build up of plaque has been removed so i am obviously reaching places my old
toothbrush didn't touch. Oh and by the way - the bleeding did stop the third time around - I dont have gum disease :)
My gums felt a bit funny because of all the vibrating on my teeth. Although you arent supposed to use this toothbrush for the full 3 minutes a normal one requires i still go for it whenever i have time!
Since using this toothbrush i have found many good points. My teeth are lovely and white for once and i really love that feeling. Also, it makes me feel really fresh and clean - a great start! A bad point is that i now have increased lazyitus and my hands become numb from all the vibrations. Since using this toothbrush i have had to change the head and oh dear what a hassle! I couldn't get the top off to change the batteries cos it was stuck firm on! The brush head wasn't so bad but cost a bit of money at £6! Then again. The old one did last 6 months though. Apart from that - Go grab this toothbrush! Looks and does what an electric toothbrush would :)
Stay Healthy!
Mel xx

- 16/09/08 Welcome to Dooyoo. A fun read here as well as being full of all the right amount of info for future buyers. One of the advantages of it being so compact is that you can still use it like a normal toothbrush without the vibration. |
