Advantages: Very easy to use

Disadvantages: None

My parents have recently "converted" to electronic toothbrush users and are very happy with them. It's saved them money at the dentist they told me at which point my frugal ears pricked up and I decided to give it a go!

There seem to be two types of power to them either batteries that you put in yourself or plug it in and recharge an inbuilt battery. The inbuilt may be easier but we use rechargeable AAs ones anyway so I wasn't biased as to which type I went for.

There were cheaper supermarket own brand ones or more expensive well known make ones. The own brand ones tended to look rather cheap and were disposable so I was biased in favour of a well known brand by this point.

There didn't seem to be much between them to look at - short of reading up on here first which I didn't think of duh! So I went for a cheaper one of about £7 rather than the up top £20 type ones.

I bought one main "stick" and several "heads" for all the family so that we all use the expensive bit and have our own hygenic bit which is the cheaper bit. You can buy new "heads" for them all as you can a new manual toothbrush.

I have found this to be very reliable, easy to use and good quality. It only has two buttons, start and stop! And to change the batteries you pull the end off, tip the batteries out and put new ones in and replace the end. It was a little tricky to see which way to put the new ones in having taken the old ones out too quickly and not registered which way round they were but hey no one's perfect ;)

It's easy to clean on the outside although the inside of the head's attachment I've noticed recently is becoming a little dirty and is not easy to clean but having said that we're probably due new heads anyway....and as it doesn't come into contact with you it's not a health issue anyway.

I do find that my teeth feel distinctly cleaner than when I used to use a manual toothbrush so I'll never go back now.

So overall a very good value for money product I'd say - but I've got to wait for my next dentist appointment to see what he thinks...
