The Colgate actibrush is a great step forward for electric toothbrushes. It is battery operated so you don’t have to worry about having a shaver socket in the bathroom or a transformer.

It is well priced at around twelve pounds and you can pick one up at a grocery store rather than going to an electronics or department store. It has simple controls, just on and off and is really easy to hold.

You can get colour-coded heads so each member of the family can have one and they don’t get mixed up. The head rotates fast enough to give you a fantastically clean set of teeth in just two minutes, and the unit is very quiet.

It is small enough to take with you on trips, and it takes standard AA batteries so they are not expensive to replace, particularly as they last a good six months. The head needs replacing about every four months and these are more expensive than a standard toothbrush. A pack of three should last you a year and costs around £10, so keep an eye out for special offers.
