I would not list teeth cleaning as one of my favourite pastimes, it's a necessity and that's all. Having become a total convert to the world of electric toothbrushes a few years ago, it pains me to have to pay the kind of money the brush heads tend to cost, so I will just buy whichever heads I spot on offer.
That's how I came to purchase these "3D" heads - they were on a half price offer, and two heads cost £5.99. The one good thing about buying Oral-B brush heads is that for my particular toothbrush, all the heads available seem to be interchangeable. The head is approximately 6cm long and comes with coloured rings to clip on to the end so that if you are a more-than-one-toothbrush household you can distinguish your brush. The head slots onto the body of the brush and you're ready to go.
The particular claims of these heads is that they tackle stains. Personally I am incredibly sceptical of these claims, I have tried a variety of brush heads and I can't honestly distinguish any great benefit from these or any other head. I also think that with these toothbrushes and heads, much depends on the actual brush you own - it may have different settings, such as pulsing action for instance, and therefore the effects of any heads will be directly affected by this.
These heads are circular, but they are unusual in that instead of being packed with bristles, the central area of these is filled with a circular soft piece of rubber / plastic. That immediately sounds weird, but there is no squeaking or anything when using it, and in truth, I personally don't even detect it when the brush is in full flight.
Surrounding this central piece are bristles which are a variety of lengths and colours, and I assume that the colours represent different degrees of stiffness or softness.
I am particularly underwhelmed by these heads, they strike me as quite gimmicky and I fail to see how something as simple as using these heads would have a noticeable effect on teeth stains. My personal experience is certainly that they didn't. That said, they provided an equally effective clean to other heads I've used, and gave me a great feeling of cleanliness when I'd brushed. I wouldn't rush out to buy again, or particularly recommend them, but then again I would have no problem picking more up if I saw them on offer again.
These brush heads were replacement heads for my Oral B electric toothbrush.
The brush heads are strong, sturdy and long lasting. They last a lot longer compared to standard toothbrushes, so they are good value for the £18 that I paid for them. I would say that each one lasts for around four months before needing to be replaced. You can instantly tell when the heads need replacing as the bristles start to bend to the side and the colours fade. They are easy to replace and even easier to fit.
I find that the brush heads clean my teeth well. They managed to get in between the teeth, where normal brushes cannot reach. This means that they remove plaque and tartar build up, leading to cleaner and healthier teeth. My teeth always feel cleaner and fresher after using these brush heads. They also help to remove stains from the surface of the teeth leaving you with a whiter brighter smile. These brush heads clean the teeth without damaging the tooth enamel.
They're mild and gentle and they're not too harsh on the teeth. You can feel them giving your teeth a "good clean" but at least you know they're working!
I would recommend these brush heads to all Oral B electric toothbrush users. They're excellent quality.
I purchased a pack of 4 toothbrush refills of this variety ecently from Argos for approximately £19. I have previously only ever bought them from boots where they are on offer every now and again, but the price I paid I think is pretty standard when offers not in place.
The refills come in a blue box With a picture of both the refill and the oral b logo, pretty standard packaging to be honest. Within the packaging are the four refills along with four different colour rings that fit to the bottom of each refill in order for family members to differentiate which brush belongs to whom.
The refills are compatable to all oral b rotating brushes which is handy as I have had my oral b toothbrush for quite some time now, but oral b do bring out new fittings from time to time, so it's nice to be able to use what's available without having to purchase the whole electric toothbrush again.
This particular head is designed as a whitening/ stain removing head, which for me issue big part of dental hygiene. It is made of a sturdy plastic with a circular head of Green white and blue bristes, enclosed in which is a smaller yellow plastic circle, which is infact the advertised polishing cup.
In terms of performance, I have been a fan of electric toothbrushes for years and rate their general performance as outstanding in comparison to manual brushes. To be honest this particular model cleans just as well as any other refill I have used, I did not notice any more significant whitening effect, but then I rate all the oral b electric brushes as providing good stain removal and this item lived up to this also. I did find that with the polishing cup not as much foam was created as with my previous plain bristle head, which impacted on the few feeling you get when cleaning your teeth, but it delivered in its cleaning performance regardless. My teeth did actually squeak when rubbed after use, which I took to mean they were squeaky clean. Like I said no better or worse than alternatives but no difference in the price either.
My previous replacement heads have lasted about 4-5 months before I've thought about needing to change. I'm two months in to this one and it's still gong strong.
