Advantages: Works well and attractive to kids
Disadvantages: Requires the brush tips to be changed regularly and they're expensive
I came across this product when I was looking for a birthday present for my cousin who was turning five. I distinctly remember his mother complaining to me about how difficult it is make him stay still and brush his teeth properly rather than jumping around and waving and splashing suds all over the place. To be honest, I find it difficult to buy presents for other people and I figured that this product is both functional and fun for the mother and the son; so I ended up buying this as a birthday present.
Electric toothbrush are pretty costly compared to manual ones but I bought this at a half price of £15.00 at tesco, which I think is a reasonable price for an electric toothbrush. It comes in a plastic and from what I can see without opening the pack is that it is designed like most electric toothbrush. However, this is different in a sense that it is a novelty Disney 'Cars' edition for boys mostly. The colour scheme is mainly red and blue that mimics Lightning McQueen, the main character from the movie 'Cars'. I love that movie, but sadly I too many years too old to own a toothbrush like this.
I can say from my experience that my cousin was very happy to receive this as a present. As an added bonus, his mother was happy as well because she was hoping that it'll be easier to get him to properly brush his teeth now. Since I stayed over at their house that night, I was able to see how this product works first hand. The product comes with a charger that uses standard 'shaver' ports, but they already have an adapter so it wasn't a problem. We charged the toothbrush to be used that night and try it out. Since I use both manual and electric toothbrush, I know from experience that with electric ones you have to make sure that it's not turned on until you got it in your mouth. I've been splattered with enough sticky toothpaste on my face to know how to use it.
Well, the general recommended brushing time is two minutes, but personally I'm not patient enough to brush for 2 whole minutes and usually takes about a minute and a half at most. However for my cousin, his mother swayed him with this new cool toothbrush to last 2 minutes. With one minutes, the electric toothbrush gives signal to either switch sides or just a general idea of time. I think the toothbrush works really well for its purpose.
The product requires charging. I've asked my aunt (his mother) and she told me it took more than 6 hours to be fully charged, but she wasn't sure because it's usually left to charged over night. Once fully charged, it lasts for about a week or so, which is reasonable I would say.
Overall, Oral-B is a good brand and for the price of this product, it does work wonderfully well and, from what my aunt told me, it made brushing time more peaceful.
Thank you for reading. :) x
