Advantages: Really works, removes build ups and feels great

Disadvantages: Hard to use whilst typing

I have had electric toothbrushes in the past and invariably over time they ended up back in the drawer and I ended up brushing manually. Somehow the novelty or the charge always wore off and as I had seen no amazing improvement to the look of my teeth , there was no real incentive to replace the head of find the missing bit.

I got my Philips Sonicare from Amazon for 37 quid, which I believe is a bargain price as they are recommended for sale at 100 and are now at about £50. I was excited about this purchase as I thought it might be a bit sci-fi a bit like Dr Who's screwdriver.

It has 3 settings unlike my previous venture into the electronic toothbrushes. These are clean, sensitive and clean and white. I have only ever used the clean and white because basically white teeth is what I wanted it for. The clean and white cycle times the experience for you so that the only thing that you have to concentrate on is attacking your teeth with it. The clean cycle is 2 mins and this is broken down into 4 timings. The toothbrush stops momentarily to remind you to move to a different part of your mouth. The white cycle follows on automatically and is two 15 second blastings made for front teeth only.

Basically its amazing. My teeth are indeed whiter than before, it removes coffee stains from behind your teeth and makes your whole mouth feel really clean.

There is a handy travel hard case so that you can take it with you and for a few days you probably wouldnt nead to pack your charger unit. It comes ready charged so that you can experiment straight away, something my previous electric toothbrushes made you wait hours for. Its actually shaped like a small toothbrush so it feels right in your mouth. Not these strange circular things.

Its fully waterproof, well Ive never dropped it in a swimming pool but I have used it in the shower, dont laugh Jenifer Aniston admits to doing this too, though Id have been more impressed if it was with a Philips Sonicare.

The ony tweeny problem I have with it, and it really is minor is that whilst the toothpaste can sit on the brush quite happily for hours in the upright position (whilst you for instance write a review) you have to be a little careful when you turn it on that it doesnt fire it at you at high speed. The other slight thing is that its best used whilst not wearing say for instance your favourite black suit. Maybe its just me but high speed vibrating heads equals white spatter when changing direction.

Obviously you may want to use this with fancy whitening toothpaste too to speed up the results - and you can - however the manufacturers warn to rinse off with soap if you use ones containing bicarbonate or it could eventually ruin your slimline plastic casing.

Replacement heads about 14.50 for 3 available also via Amazon. Is it worth it? Well cost compared with el plastico manual toothbruch looks steep, however Im not sure how much you would pay to have your teeth professionally whitened and descaled, and this is what this does and within a couple of weeks too.

Summary: Get one and smile!

Good review.

Howeve r as realistic as your experience is, I doubt that many owners will try to brush their teeth at the same time writing a review. For a start as the owner of this, you have to keep your mouth closed and one hand on the brush to guide it along your mouth = unless of course your pc/computer screen is completely awash with toothpaste!

Do nt be afraid to space out your review - it would be easier on the eye to read.
