This was the loud exclamation from my gran on Christmas day in front of all the family when I opened this present, much to my shock and horror.........it wasn't at all, just a toothbrush! But seriously........ having used a conventional toothbrush since I had teeth, and hating to brush my teeth I am delighted with my new 'toy'.

The sensiflex comes complete with a compact base unit charger, which is to be plugged into a shaving point. The toothbrush itself is quite lightweight, and easy for a child of 2 to manipulate.

The on/off switch is easy to operate also being a large rubberised button that is depressed once to turn it on and then once to turn it off.

The brush is very securely attached to the body of the toothbrush battery housing, having a 'bayonet' fitting (similar to that of a lightbulb) so you have to twist it to remove the brush, therefore ensuring the brush does not become detatched in the mouth during use.

The brush itself has a round head that covers the tooth and gum line adequately and the added 'active tip' bristle at the top of the brush makes reaching behind the back teeth a breeze. This active tip structure also cleans in between the teeth as you move the brush along them.

The brush has a controlled pressure system, meaning that if you press the brush against your teeth too firmly, it will 'flex' backwards, giving an audible click, which you can also feel. Once the pressure overload is released the brush returns to its original position.

Having used this brush twice daily since i had it, I have noticed a huge difference in the whiteness of my teeth and also how my mouth and teeth feel after brushing.

They look much cleaner and feel it too, it is not dissimilar to the feeling you have after a scale and polish. Teeth cleaning is no longer a chore as it requires minimal effort on my part! I just hold the brush against my teeth and let it do the work. M
y gums were a little tender after the first few days of use, but this has now stopped.

The only disadvantage i can find with this electric toothbrush is the slightly unpleasant vibrating sensation of lips and nose when using it!

I was happy enough with the results of my conventional toothbrush, having never had fillings or dental work in 28 years of having teeth (yes they are my own!) I am over the moon with this electric toothbrush, it recommends that the brush be changed every 3 months, or when the bristles spread, this is the same for conventional brushes. It remains to be seen how much these brushes are, i will update this as and when i require new brushes.

Update 17/01/01

Having used my sex toy, only joking¬, for a while now I am amazed at how long the battery lasts. Using the toothbrush morning and night it has lasted until now being only charged once on the 25/12/00.

I have tried to find the replacement bushes in Boots and Superdrug and a variety of supermarkets with no joy. However, they are sold in Argos, packs of 4 will cost you £12.99 and should last 12 months, (this is replacing the brush heads every 3 months).
