Gameware Wii Double Charging Station
by eisbrecher Having had the Wii for a year, I had spent well in excess of £50 on batteries, I thought this was unacceptable and I started searching for an alternative, for a while I used normal rechargeable batteries but the charger was too bulky and the batteries were heavily unreliable. I was directed towards the GAMEware charging station for the ... Wii, the charging stand comes with 4 special batteries and Wiimote battery covers necessary to charge the Wiimotes. It can charge two Wiimotes at a time. Look and Feel The charging station looks perfect, aesthetically pleasing and modelled to fit in next to your Wii, with the LED lights to tell you when the Wiimote is in place and when it has finished charging are the same electric blue as the battery/player indicator on the wiimote. It is small and really looks at home next to the Wii. However it feels very cheap, being very light and feels empty, the charging station may not feel robust but it certainly looks the part, the same white colour as the Wii with a sloping top meaning it never looks like a nuisance. There is one battery to go into a single Wiimote, the batteries feel a bit heavier than 2 AA batteries. The Wiimote battery covers included have two small metal squares where the batteries are charged in the charger but are otherwise identical in look and feel to the Nintendo battery covers. 3/5 Robustness and Durability The charging station certainly doesn't feel robust, yet it is deceiving. The plastic, despite feeling cheap, can withstand everyday falls and bumps without showing a scratch. The batteries take quite a bit of force to push in, and the small bit of plastic in the Wiimote to separate what is normally the AA batteries can scratch the battery, which obviously cannot be seen in normal use and does not affect usage. The charging stand and batteries don't look robust but are surprisingly durable and resistant to damage. 4/5 Value for Money The charger will generally take an hour or two to fully charge a depleted battery and the full battery will last roughly 6-12 hours of use before becoming unusable. If you use your Wii regularly it will save you money, and if you use it at least 4 hours a day like myself it will save you lots. Like the manual says, the batteries do not last forever, indeed, after hundreds of charges the batteries are now beginning to fade, they now last no longer than 4 hours. Though they are still very usable and still save me lots of money. 5/5 Instruction Manual The manual can feel very text heavy and much of it is rather unnecessary, as simply looking at the front of the box answers most questions one will have. It obviously plugs into the back of the Wii and the replacement batteries and battery covers obviously have to be used with the Wiimotes. The manual is certainly thorough but maybe a bit too thick. 4/5 Overall If you use your Wiimotes for over 5 hours a week I highly recommend this purchase, it will save you a very significant amount of money. It looks very sophisticated and fits in well with the Wii. The Wiimotes don't feel any different with the rechargeable battery packs inside or the different battery covers. I do recommend this to anyone, I have never had a problem with the charger itself or the batteries and it has proven to be a very effective money saving product. 4/5 Thanks for reading, any comments you have will be gratefully received. Also on Ciao. Read the complete review |

Gameware Wii Double Charging Station
by kellface After spending god knows how much money on batteries for my Wii controllers, I thought it about time that I bought myself a Charging Station, I looked around for a while trying to see what was the best one, with the cheapest price, and found this one in my local Game store. For £9.99 I wasn't going to complain about price, as ... long as it did the job, I was happy. It's a double docking station, which means you can charge both remotes at the same time, and plugs into your wii through the USB Port, I've even charged them up before using my Xbox 360! As long as theres power going through the cable I don't think it matters where from. The pack comes with 2 Re-Chargeable Batteries, with 2 battery covers, and is white in colour to match the Wii. The batteries normally last a few hours of playing time, which isn't that good, but thats all I need so it suits me fine. If you want an even longer battery life, then go for the more expensive docking station, but this one certainly does its job well, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Save yourself some much needed cash, and invest in one of these! Read the complete review |

Gameware DS Cartridge Case
by blue_ashleigh As some of you may know, I recently bought myself a shiny new Nintendo DS... and a few games for it! Nintendo DS games are teeny tiny, but the boxes they come in are disproportionately large, and I got fed up of lugging around boxes of games. So, I hunted about for a carrying case for my games. I saw quite a few cases that ... held up to 6 games, but I wanted something which would hold a little more as I figured that I'd soon run out of room and would have to buy a new case. Then I found that GAME (www.game.co.uk) were selling a case which holds up to 9 games for a bargain price of £4.99 with free delivery. I didn't hesitate to buy it! It arrived the very next day and I can honestly say it is fantastic! ~ What is it? ~ The GAMEware DS cartridge holder is a small (approx 11.5cm length, 7cm width, 2.2cm tall) hard clear shelled case. It holds up to 9 DS games in a rubber interior, and comes with a free stylus. The outside is just a hard plastic shell, which is see through. You open the case using a little flap at the side which I think if you were rough with it would eventually snap, so perhaps this may not last long with children. The outside is made of that slightly textured sort of plastic (frosted plastic type thing) which scratches really easily, but you can only see the scratches when it's angled at the light, and lets be fair, do you really, deep down, care if your cheap games carrying case has a few scratches on it!? The inside, when you open it up, is made of grey rubber which is separated into 6 compartments. The rubber covers all of the inside with bits cut in to hold the games, so you game is only touching the rubber when it's pushed it. On one side the compartments are the depth of a single game, and the other side has slightly deeper compartments which hold up to two games. There's also a little 'cut in' section which holds a stylus, one stylus comes with the case, but it's exactly the same as the actual Nintendo DS lite Stylus, so you can put your favourite stylus in there (if you have one!). There's also another stylus holder, which I'm led to believe holds a DS stylus (as opposed to lite). The compartments hold one (or two, depending on which side it is) very snugly. You do have to press down on the game to get it into the compartment, but it's not too difficult, and it just ensures that the games don't rattle around. There's a little thumb indent at the top of each compartment, making it easy to get the games back out again. The rubber inside has a funny smell to it, but if you go around sniffing your games holding case then I think you have bigger problems than the smell of the case! You do notice a slight whiff if you leave the case open next to your DS while you hunch over your DS with your face practically pressed to the screen, but otherwise it's not noticeable! ~ Good Points ~ This games case is super dooper cheap! For only a fiver with free delivery (which arrived the very next day!) you really can't sniff at it! The games case holds 9 games, which is 3 more games than any other games cartridge games case I've seen. The case is small - it's about the same width and height as a DS lite, and about 7/8ths the length of a DS lite, which I think is great! Holds a spare stylus (both DS and DS lite) The games are held securely in place by the rubber, and so they don't rattle around, and they are kept protected by the hard outer case. I doubt the case would withstand you jumping on it, but if you did I reckon only the outer plastic would break and so your games would still be protected by the rubber (I haven't tried this though so don't sue me!). If you are in the habit of jumping things then maybe a DS isn't the thing for you in the first place! ~ Bad Points ~ I can see the flap breaking after using it for a long time, but for a fiver, I don't really think it's a massive problem. I know the DS can play Gameboy games, but this case won't hold them, but I reckon you'd really have to hunt hard for a case which held both, if indeed they even exist. The case only comes in a clear shell with grey rubber, but it's not ugly by any means. If you are a little odd and have to have everything pink, say, then you may be disappointed as it only comes in one colour! ~ Conclusion ~ I think this cartridge holder is a fantastic bargain, and I would most definitely recommend it to anyone who has a few DS games and doesn't want to lug around the boxes. A big thumbs up from me! ~ The boring bits ~ You can buy it from GAME www.game.co.uk for £4.99 plus free delivery http://tinyurl.com/5zqcgb Read the complete review |
