Rating:

I have just recently purchased a Playstation 2 for £199.99 and was really impressed by the quality of sound that you can get from your unit. I have waited over four-month for this unit and with the help from the nice Dooyoo member who rated my opinions I was able to afford one. (THANK YOU!) Since reading all the other opinion on the DVD region X I was really impressed on the details written by the other Dooyoo members. Now the problem that the other member has had, I personally have not experienced. WHAT IS DVD REGION X? ------------------------------------- Now this device that we are talking about allows you to play DVD ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Don't open your PS2! (791 words)

*UPDATED* (See end of review) When Datel announced that they were releasing a product that would enable PS2 owners to play DVD’s from other regions there was a rather large cheer. For DVD owners (and especially the fanatics) being able to play DVD’s from other regions (Europe being Region 2) is a REALLY big deal. It means you can purchase DVD’s from America (Region 1) and Australia (Region 4). This may sound a little excessive but from America is crucial due to the fact that most titles are released earlier in the states compared to here. The beauty with Australian discs is that they are also in the PAL format so can be played on any TV too. ...  Read the complete review

Those who have read my opinions on this site may have gathered that I'm a bit of a dvd freak and like my movies. In the past year the DVD format has really taken off purely because the format has been utilized by stand-alone players, PC's and games consoles. Now the format is easily accessible and at a reasonable price. Of course any real DVD fan will know that by limiting yourself to the Region 2 you really are selling yourself short. Films get released in other regions earlier thn the UK. For example if you 'had' been dying to see Sly Stallone's take on Get Carter then you'd still be waiting on a UK release while our american cousins ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Regionless DVD on your Playstation 2 (411 words)

Rating:

When Sony released the Playstation 2 they got a right telling off for two reasons. 1. The DVD Sony included to set their console aside from the competition was regionless meaning it would play DVDs from all countries. This is not something the film makers wanted as it could mean a DVD could be watched in the UK on your playstation before it even came out a the cinema. (I am not too clear on this point as regionless DVD players are legally available so...) 2. There was a port on the back of the console which allowed a video recorder to be plugged into it and from this DVDs could be recorded onto tape. This constitutes copy right infringement. ...  Read the complete review
