Advantages: Wireless operation of the DVD feature on the PS2

Disadvantages: None, apart from the cost, but that's only minimal.

The Playstation 2 DVD remote is for people who want to play DVD’s on your console.

My feelings on the matter are that it’s just pointless, trying to play a DVD with out one a remote.

Many will say “I will just use my controller and save me the money”, but I have tried that, that’s just what I said at first. The only cost about £10, save yourself the effort and get one.

The PS2 joypad in very hard to use when playing DVD movies.

One, it doesn’t reach very far and it’s obviously not infrared.
Two, the joypad is hopelessly annoying to use, you often find yourself wanting to fast-forward/rewind and end up pressing the wrong button and loosing you place in the film, taking you ages to get you back there.

While the DVD remote has dedicated Play, rewind, fast-forward etc. buttons with their function printed on them. It’s just so much less stressful when you’re lounged out on the sofa with a beer.

So all you people who don’t need the added stress, and are also very lazy like me and intend to by a large amount of movies to lounge around an watch, then GET THE REMOTE!!!!

I would suggest save your money and get a seperate DVD player (with a free remote!). The playback is really disappointing - not at all like the Sony DVD players.
