Advantages: Saves money!

Disadvantages: Doesn't always charge effectively.

After having our Wii computer for some time now, we (myself and my hubby) decided that it was time to invest in one little piece of kit that now seems to be the one thing we should have had from the start.

The product I will now review is - "Double charging station"

As many of you will know when you own two remotes the amounts of batteries used is extortionate and to be honest was costing us a fortune, so after visiting our local Game store and seeing this unit at a reduced price we decided to buy.

The unit is around 5" across, thus meaning that it doesn't actually take up to much room, as we tend to leave it et up with the computer itself, hopefully this means that my kids will remember to stick them on charge after playing a few games, they haven't yet but I live in hope!

The unit itself is plugged into the back of the computer via a cable, this means that one of the controls could be charged whilst the other one is being use, though as my kids are always playing against each other this never happens!

Alongside the charger itself you are provided with battery packs and rechargeable batteries that come housed already within said packs.
To simply removed the bog standard batteries and the battery cover and replace with the charger packs, there is no messing replacing batteries so this relatively pain free!

To charge the control first remove the control from the skin (if you have them), and place onto the control sized gap, this is where the first bit of confusion happened!

We have had a charger before given to us by a work colleague. This was a cheap and cheerful one that came free with their unit, it was in short crap but we persevered anyway!
With that particular charger the controls slotted onto a connector, but with this unit you lie the control on the top of two gold coloured nodules, you lie the control on the top of these without there being any inserting or fixing onto the charger itself, this means that if placed in with the wrist strap shall we say under the control, the connection is broken and it will not charge or keep breaking charge.

To charge you have to have the Wii itself switched on then you pace the controls into the charger. If the control is charging the red light will come on the bottom part of the unit, and when fully charged the light will go green, be warned though to take the control out straight away, as if left the unit will eventually change from green back onto red and will need further charging time.

For the initial charge the controls should be charged for around 6 hours, after that we have managed to only charge them every two or three days, but my kid do play a good couple of hours a day!

Battery wise this has saved us a good £10 pounds already and we have only had it since last week (a week so far!), so has nearly paid for itself!

The cost of this unit at present is £17.97, a reduction of nearly £10 so now would be the time to get it!

I have an old battery charger from an older digital camera so I just bought some rechargeable AA batteries and use that. =\ I keep hearing these charge stations don't always work well.

We have this and its brilliant. The only thing is that if you have to resync your handset (has happened to us once or twice) you have to put ordinary batteries in otherwise you can't press the right button with the rechargeable unit in the handset. We keep an old set of batteries in the drawer by the Wii just in case! x
