The xbox 360 is one of the best next generation consoles and certainly has an upper hand to its competitor the Playstation 3 due to it being much cheaper. I have now owned an xbox 360 for over a year now and am currently on my second console after the first one broke.

One of the main reasons as I am told for this breaking was partly due to the system being over used and consequently over heated. As any gamer knows this can lead to serious problems causing the console to begin to become damged as core components may melt or go wrong, and the console may also make a lot more noise.

As a result I decided to purchase a cooler fan for my 360 in order to have some extra protection and to stop my second console from breaking like the first one. I have now had this console for almost 6 months and have not had a single problem, and although I have no real proof, I have to say that I think the cooler has certainly had a big influence on the console remaining in great condition.

The looks:

The cooler fan can be purchased in black or white to fit in with both normal consoles and the newer elite version. It is exactly the same colour as the console and in the same style and therefore fits perfectly with it and just sticks out the back a bit. Although it may at first seem very bulky, once it has been put onto the console it is hidden at the back and you wouldn't even know it was there. I personally think it looks quite cool and am not bothered at all about having it there - its a bit like upgrading your console which is rather nice.

Install:

This is quite a scary bit as you basically have to clip it in with four clips going into some holes at the back of the console. It is quite hard to put on and requires a certain amount of force which is a bit worrying as you fell like you are going to break the console - but once it clicks all is fine and it is on and ready to use. The main power line for the console then rather than going into it's normal hole will slot into the back of the cooler and can be easily removed. The console can then be switched on and the fan will automatically start working with 3 separate fans in the back.

Safety:

The fan is very safe and is completely enclosed with no possibility of small fingers getting into where the fans are. Of course being at the back of the console it is relatively out of reach anyway and does not lead to any safety problems - it is just like sticking a small conservatory on the back of your console - very useful and safe to use!

Does it actually work (my experience):

The fan is design ed to reduce the temperature of the console and to ultimately extend it's life and allow you as a gamer to be able to play more without any problems. For me it certainly has worked and from feeling the console it definitely reduces the temperature and I fell very safe using it for longer periods of time in one go.
I have now had the console and working fan for about 6 months and am extremely pleased as it has worked really well. The only problem I would have is that it can sometimes be rather loud and at first very annoying. Althoug once you stick that game in the console and start playing you forget about that completely and just get on with the game and have loads of fun without having to worry about over heating!
I knw=ow that many of my friends who also have xbox 360s (but no fan) often have to stop playing after a while as their console crashes or freezes, yet i never have this and I believe this is due to the console being cooler thanks to my great fan!

Price:

The cooler fan is also a very cheap product and will cost you between£10 and £15 from retailers such as Game.
This is a very reasonable price as you are basically take out a form of insurance and protection for your console and greatly increasing your short and long term gaming!
Definitely worth looking at and buying at this very reasonable price - I bought it straight away when I saw it at this price without knowing what it was like - but now I hope everyone else will understand its benefits and consider getting one!


Conclusion:

A must have for any xbox gamer whether you play loads or little. It will extend your gaming time massively and improve your consoles performance in the short term as you will have no problem of crashes; and in the long run as your console should have a longer life. And it is also at a very reasonable price - what are you waiting for?

Summary: a great fan to cool your console whick is very cheap!
