The Playstation 2 stand is just what I’d have to call unnecessary – it’s a complete rip off! Why on earth didn’t Sony design the Playstation 2 to stand up on it’s own without you having to buy a special £9.99 plastic stand, which probably cost £1 to make! I’ll tell you why, it’s because they’re a company who want to make a profit, and they know that people will buy these things. Reduce supply, and everyone will want one! People seem to have forgotten that just 2 months ago the PS2 was condemned as an overpriced console – before it was launched that is.

The stand, (yes I had one in my short spell as a PS2 owner) fits on to either the side of your PS2 or the bottom – depending on which stand you buy: the horizontal or vertical (yes there is even a stand to make it not stand up!) It’s blue in colour, and goes nicely with the PS2 logo, but I do not see why Sony has to charge for something that should have been included with the PS2. But hey – I don’t have a Playstation 2 any more I’ve been reminiscing with Tekken 1 on the PSX!

The stand is well packaged, but I do not believe it is an essential purchase – the PS2 sits well enough on it’s own! That’s big companies for you – trying to make up for the losses they make on the actual console!

£9.99 for what – a piece of blue plastic. Disgraceful!
