Advantages: Easy to use, increases accuracy and aim, comfortable, grip holes, dipped surface
Disadvantages: Look a bit odd, £9.99
The questionably named, FPS Freeks, are a very simple and effective accessory, sold by Kontrol Freek. The purpose of these is to increase your accuracy and aim for First Person Shooters but they also work for Third Person Shooters, like Gears of War.
Essentially, they just raise the height of the analog sticks but in doing so, they also allow more leverage. What this means is that the analog sticks can be moved closer to a horizontal position than without the FPS Freeks attached and provide better movement.
They're extremely easy to get used to and although at first it does feel strange, after a few hours it feels stranger to play without them. They definitely help with accuracy and I also find them more comfortable for several reasons; they're higher in height, they have small grip holes on the surface and they dip inwards instead of outwards like the analogs that come with the controller.
To attach them, you simply clip them on top of the analog sticks on your PS3 or 360 controller. It's very quick and they are secured tightly. They don't look too great, especially if you're using Gioteck Real Triggers as well but a controller isn't exactly designed to look pretty but to function well.
Overall, they're not necessary but certainly do their job. They cost £9.99 in the UK which is fairly expensive and if you're a casual gamer or you don't play online/multiplayer then I wouldn't recommend buying them.
Summary: You can also buy Speed Freeks for racing games.
