I bought this item in a really nice pearly pink leather, although there are black, blue and white available. It matches the pink nintendo ds perfectly.
Im hoping it will offer some protection because like many other parents I have given in and bought a nintendo ds for my three year old. the case itself is made of hard leather and feels really tough. It is designed to be left on the ds during use and is a great idea as they do tend to be dropped and thrown about. Inside the case there is a plastic clip that the ds clips into and it takes a good tug to get it out again there are compartments for the spare stylus (provided with the case) and to keep 2 additional games inside. As the case is specifically designed for the ds you can still change the games and plug the charger in whilst the case is on the ds so all in all it is the perfect case for anyone using a ds especially children.
At first this seem a tad unecessary but the reality is that it has done a fantastic job and keeping my beloved ds safe!
The case has three handy slot to safe keep games so that I don't need to cart around bulky game cases too. This is great for me as I only tend to play 2/3 games anyway but I imagine for kids/mums it would be useful if there were more game pockets.
They come in a collection of colours so that I can match the case to my handbag for the day.
The only disadvantage is that it comes with a pen / quill thing that doesn't work and scratches your ds's screen so do not use this if yours comes with one.
Finally my only disappointment is that it would have been nice if you didn't need to spend additional money on a case for you ds, if instead it came as standard when you bought a ds.
For Christmas I bought Jenny a Nintendo DS as she'd been wanting one for a while. So having bought her a pink DS I recently seen the pink Flip and Play cases in our local Game store. As it was a very reasonable £7.99 I thought it would be a worthwhile purchase in order to give her DS a little bit extra protection. Of course this is talking from experience, as with my own PSP I've dropped it a few times and could have done with a case to protect the edges from scuffing.
The biggest problem I'd always found with cases for electronic gadgets was having to take them out of the case to actually use the machine, particularly with my I-pod. This is why I went for the Flip and Play case because while it still gave the protection to the DS, you can also play on it while it remains in the case.
There are of course a number of different cases on the market, however this is one of the few actually endorsed by Nintendo. The case itself has a very sturdy leather outer shell that will protect the front and back of your DS. The case is closed using a magnetic catch that holds firmly in place and takes a little bit of pressure to open, meaning it doesn't fly open whenever it feels like it.
Once you open the case you can see exactly why this is the Nintendo endorsed product. Once open the case has a custom made frame on the base into which you clip your Nintendo DS. Once your DS is into the frame it stays there and like the magnetic catch it takes a bit of effort to get your DS to come back out of the frame. This is exactly what you want as it keeps your DS secure and means it won't be falling out all over the place. The case also comes with an extra DS Stylus and an area within the case to hold it, ensuring you can always have a spare with you.
The inside of the case is just as rigid as the outside, however rather than being a leather finish it has a fabric finish. The case itself, unlike some others doesn't attach itself to the top half of the screen either, meaning you have to open it yourself, but this feature is actually very useful as it gives you easy access to the top of the DS and the cartridge slot, making it easy to change games while your DS is inside the case. The AC input is also easily accessible and because of the way the case is designed, you can run the cable down the back of the DS while the case is closed.
Overall the Nintendo DS Flip and Play protector is certainly a decent product to have for your DS. It is the official Nintendo product and even comes embossed with the DS logo. Of course like pink, while it's suitable for Jenny's might not be suitable for everyone and for that reason it is also available in black, white and blue. It is a decent product and priced between £7.49 and £7.99 it is well worth paying this small price. It is available from all good computer game stores and online as well, we got ours from Game and certainly wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending it.
Play games without removing your console with the quality real leather case.
