Advantages: Free of charge, easy to apply for, helps to avoid breakages.
Disadvantages: None
If you purchased a Wii when they were first launched you may well be aware of the vast number of accidents in the home that happened through people accidentally letting go of the Wii Remote when playing with their console.
However, from October 2007 all Wii Remotes sold (including those which came free with a Wii console) come with an adjustable wrist strap as well as a silicone remote jacket.
The purpose of the remote jacket is that it sits over the Wii remote and adds extra grip whilst you are playing games with the Wii, this will hopefully help to prevent any further breakages of TVs as you are far less likely to accidentally let go of the remote when the silicone case is combined with the adjustable wrist strap.
The silicone case also acts as a cushion if you accidentally knock something or somebody with the remote (believe me, it's so easy if you are playing Wii Sports in a confined space!).
If you have a Wii or a remote without a silicone case you can visit the website at http://wii.nintendo.co.uk and you will be able to apply for jackets for free (up to 4 per console I believe), the website is very easy to use and it will take a few days for your jacket to arrive.
I think this is a fantastic addition to your Wii Remote and is quite essential really to ensure that you have safe gaming around the house as accidents can easily happen and it's best to try and be prepared with the Wii. The difference with and without the jacket is quite noticeable so I would highly recommend it.
Because they are available for free from the website provided above I will be rating this product 5/5.
Summary: Highly recommend for anybody with a Wii remote.
