Advantages: Will protect the remote if you do let go
Disadvantages: Have to take it off to use accessories etc.
The nintendo wii remote cover is now supplied free of charge with the wii remotes after several people had issues with the remotes flying out of their hands whilst playing games and breaking TV's, windows etc.
However, if you have an older wii or controller then you most likely have not been supplied with one of these and if they are being used by children especially I would highly recommend buying one.
The cover or jacket is made from silicone and is very thick at the top of the cover to protect the top the remote and also the infra red light source. Due to the fact that it is very sturdy it can be fun to get this on and off when you need to.
The cover does need to come off if you are using the remote with the other Wii accessories like the steering wheels or the zapper. We have taken ours off and on a few times and it doesn't appear to do any damage to the cover or stretch it in anyway so does (at the moment) appear to have quite a long life on it.
We also have the docking stand for charging the remotes and you do have to remove the bottom part of the jacket to be able to get the remotes to stand up and charge but this is a small price to pay should the remote go flying across the room and hit the wall, as the remotes themselves are not cheap to buy.
Overall apart from a couple of niggles about having to remove the cover for use of accessories or the charger stands this is a great acessory to have for the remote especially as nintendo now provide them for free!
Summary: Good product especially now that its provided free

- 29/10/09 If you have an old remote (not supplied with the jacket) you don't need to buy one. You can request a free jacket on the UK Nintendo site. Ours arrived within a few weeks. |
