Advantages: Improves sound and picture quality
Disadvantages: No use if you want to watch DVD's
The scart lead for the Playstation 2 gives the best picture possible from connecting your PS2 to a T.V set. All modern T.V’s have scart lead ports on the back of the T.V; they are rectangular about and inch long and a few centimetres high. One problem with this type of cable is that the PS2 has been disabled to play DVD movies through it, you will find you will have a blue screen. This is a bit disappointing, while the cable will give a slight improvement on the quality of the picture and sound, than the RGB (Red Green Blue) cable pack with it, you cannot improve on the DVD playback quality. Sony didn’t allow DVD playback through the scart lead because they decided that it would be too easy to copy the high quality DVD’s to your VCR. They didn’t think that all other DVD players can do this! Many would say, (Me being one of then) that the DVD playback of the PS2 is perfect anyway so I don’t think that the cable would make much difference if it did work. If you want improved picture sharpness and slightly clearer picture then the scart adapter will suit you, but bear in mind that it won’t work with DVD’s and you will have to switch cables everytime you want to watch a DVD, Is it really worth the hassle? I wouldn't recommend buying this cable if it's over about £10. Hower much you pay the cables are all the same, go for a cheaper third-party cable. It's not worth paying over the odds for a cable that will improve the clarity of the picture and the sound. I f you looking for the best possible DVD playback, then it might pay looking at the S-Video cable system for your television, the PS2 scart cable is no good; IT JUST MAKES THE SCREEN GO GREEN!!
