SCART Lead (Scart)

Scart is a well known cable for connecting DVD Players, VCR's, Games Consoles and many more media products. The cable was released back in the late 1970's early 1980's. It used to be the best cable out before HDMI cables and Component HD Cables came out. It is the same as Composite, as you can buy Composite to Scart adapters for around £3, Composite is the Red, White and Yellow cables that you see on every TV on the side. Scart leads nowadays come with any media products for yuot TV especially older TV's! New TVs have HDMI built in! You can buy a scart lead for around £1 or !2. There are two types of Scart leads Sliver plated which gives good quality of the video. Gold Plated which gives you higher quality. There is only around £1.50 difference between Gold Plated Scart leads than Silver Plated Scart leads! Scart and Composite leads transfere Video and Sound! I would recommend anyone who wants a straight forward cable to use to buy a scart lead!

Summary: Excellent Cable

Despite the update I have to take some issues here: As an ex-customer serviceman/technical assistant for Sky (many moons ago here) there are a few errors here:

For a start Scart is a connecting cable that links up video signals from the video player / DVD player then connected to the TV. It improves and on its own can independently can send the film shown from the player to the TV.

Composite cables are a different matter - suitable for AUX and sound delivery only, very few composite cables can delivery visuals independently which is why HDMI was launched to improve the quality and to carry the visual image that older cables failed to do.

However you also fail to mention that gold plated Scarts will only improve if both connections at either end are gold plated - the standard ones can corrode faster than gold plated and Scarts aren't the best made especially if a single prong bends out of shape or snaps off.

Scart cables came onto the market primarily for video players and laser disc machines to be connected to TVs.

ALthough this subject could be difficult to write about in terms of what this cable does, it does have quality downsides. A bit more info on actual pricing, cable length and general quality would be good to add here as well as simplifying what you mean by "Composite to Scart," for buyers who may well not have game consoles.

If you update your review pls msg me.
