Advantages: Stands your PS2 securely in a verticle position
Disadvantages: Not very many about...
The PlayStation2 is a bit of a beast, to say the least. It is much bigger than the original, a lot heavier, and considerably more expensive (at this time). The PS2 has been designed so that it can either sit underneath your television just like your VCR, digital TV box and whatever else you have plugged into your telly, or it can be sat on its side in the verticle position, taking on the appearance of a 'Japanese tower block'. I've never been to Japan and if anyone of them live in a tower block that looks like that then they have my condolences! Anyway, many of us do not have the room underneath the television to stack the PS2 horizontally and so will have to stick it on its edge beside instead of under. Other people may want it on its side for the asthetics, and doesn't it look smart slotted simply into this? Anyway, due to expense of the PS2 most people may want to protect their five-year investment by splashing out on a verticle stand if this is how they too have set it up, and Sony have released (a few) verticle stands. The PS2 slots into this triangular blue plastic device and it adds a little more sturdiness to the machine, meaning that you will have to yank a lot harder on the control pad during Tekken or SSX to pull it off its perch and on to the floor. Smart idea and it is also quite a smart add-on. Not only does it do a proper job (unlike the similar horizontal stand) it is quite nice to look at. If you have seen the PS2 advertisements on TV then you will know that blue is this season's black, and its all to do with the nice blue LED in the PS2. Therefore the triangular stand has been coloured the same blue and its a mix-and-match dream! Stella McCartney herself couldn't have picked a better ensemble! But I am a little sceptical. I normally always go for 'official' merchandice and have never before bought 3rd party peripherals. This time I went different and bought a shop-brand verticle s
tand. See, I see the PS2 as a games console - not a fashion accessory - and was more interested in the stands safety features than the actual colour and style, so I bought a stand that does the same job for half the price. Have a look about before you shop... someone else other than Sony may have a design that you prefer.
