      Wii tennis racket

We have a Nintendo Wii at our house that we have owned for quite a few years now. We still play on it to this day showing it definitely has longevity in the gaming market. I like it because it enables you to play games with a sense of authenticity and is fun for the whole family. Many a family get together we have had Wii competitions where often Grandma beats the rest of us on games such as bowling. I for one am not a big gamer, i.e. I don't spend hours playing shooting games on a X-box but the Wii is something I can really play.

When we bought the Wii it came with the Wii sports game which featured all different types of games such as bowling, golf, baseball and tennis. Tennis soon became a firm favourite in our house and so we decided to go with the whole role playing theme of the game and purchase some actual tennis rackets for Wii tennis. Yes, you can play this game with just the regular controllers and if you want to be boring you can just flick your wrist to hit the tennis ball but I like to make the actual tennis motion and tennis serve and really swing my arm and so I thought it would be way more fun if we had an actual tennis racket to play with. A few years ago I think two tennis rackets cost us in the £10- £15 region but now you can pick up a pair for about £5 by looking on Amazon.

The tennis rackets are plastic and fairly small, obviously they are not as big as a real tennis racket. The rackets slot into the top of the Wii remote control and it does feel different when you are playing with them. I think this is partly to do with the fact that they add a bit more weight to the remote and how you hold it in your hand but its a nice sturdy feel and I think really makes you seem like you are playing real tennis. When you connect with the ball and get the realistic noise of ball hitting strings you also feel like you could be on centre court at Wimbeldon. Of course, you need to leave yourself a bit more space than you would with just the regular controller to make sure you don't hit anything but overall I would say this is a fun edition to the Wii tennis game and all the other tennis games that you can now purchase for the Wii.
