Xbox Live is the world-famous online experience for the Xbox 360, by Microsoft. Unlike Sony's Playstation online play, you have to pay a small subscription fee for the Xbox Live Gold subscription as it really is excellent and well-worth the money. If not, you are automatically a member with a silver subscription, which means you can only access the marketplace and are limited to certain things so you cannot play games over Xbox Live.

Many games nowadays include Xbox Live gameplay, which makes the games so much better. Xbox Live is fun, addicting and has a large community - most of which are friendly. You do get the odd person who is rude, un-sporting or trash talks but you can easily avoid these players using the 'Submit Player Review' feature. You can also buy Xbox Live Gold subscriptions over the Xbox with an internet connection. It costs a little more though and will charge your credit card automatically if your subscription has expired. You can use Xbox Live to access the Xbox Live Marketplace and download demos, game add-ons, videos, gamer pictures, themes and loads more. You can even download classic Xbox games such as Banjo Kazooie for a small fee.

The main part of Xbox Live is that it enables you to play Xbox 360 games together with the world. Almost every game has some sort of Xbox Live feature whether it is a multiplayer or for trading. A good example is Halo 3 where you can take your fighting skills online in a variety of playlists. Another example is Forza Motorsport 2 where you can race other racers online and compete in tournaments, which is really fun. The possibilities are endless really and online play will never be the same as every game you can have different opponents.
