Advantages: Provides more fun within the games

With the xbox you have to pay a subscription fee to be able to play the online gaming modes, if you do not choose to buy this subscription you are automatically given a 'silver' subscription, this means you can only access limited features (such as connecting with with friends and accessing the marketplace to buy games etc). But with the silver subscription you cannot play games over the xbox live network.

The price plans are as follows :
12 months - £34.99
3 months - £12.99
1 month - £4.99

Obviously it is down to how frequent you are going to be using the online services which should help you decide which subscription to buy.

The majority of games have xbox live capabilities these days, with only the odd few which do not, and for example Halo 3 is a great game to play online. Thousands of users play this across the xbox live network and you can play campaign mode or vs modes as teams or all on all! Xbox live makes the gaming experience so much better, and gives you something more to do once yo complete the game.

Achievements can also be gained in online modes of games, as well as games having their own online xp rating to show just how good you are online!

You can pay for this on the xbox network using your credit card, but having a credit card registered makes it tempting to repeatedly buy games off the marketplace, so xbox live 'time cards' can be purchased from stores such as game and similar stores.

I still think its cheeky for microsoft to charge for the live service, but the games appeal more to me than the ps3 so its got to be done!

Summary: May be expensive but it is worth buying!
