Advantages: Numerous things to buy and easy to redeem.

Disadvantages: Maybe a bit too expensive

Microsoft Points are the currency of the Xbox Live Marketplace and if you will definitely find yourself buying them at least once or twice.

Microsoft Points can be used for so many different things in the Marketplace: Gamer pictures (about 150 MS), dashboard themes, changing your gamertag (800 MS), original Xbox games (1200 MS), renting movies, Arcade games and one of the most important of all... buying new map packs.

If you enjoy Xbox Live and play quite a lot on games such as Halo 3, COD4, GTA IV and Gears of War then you will need some Microsoft points. New map packs are usually released with online games and Call of Duty 4 have already released their first and Halo 3 have released two (Heroic and Legendary) with a third in the making. These usually cost about 800 MS points, which is equivalent to around £6 to £7.

There's so much to buy on the Marketplace, that 2100 may not be enough. You can also buy a 4200 MS points card. As well as buying cards, you can buy the points directly from the Marketplace where you can get smaller amounts and a variety of MS points, not just 2100 or 4200.

If you do buy a code, to redeem the points, all you have to do is scratch to reveal the code and type this in the marketplace. Then you're ready to go.
