Advantages: Gives access to many downloads - movie rents, game add-ons and gamer pics/themes

Disadvantages: Seems quite expensive, Not all content is worth it

Microsoft points are the currency of microsoft. You can use them to purchase a variety of things over Xbox Live for the Xbox 360. You can buy them with a credit card on the console over Xbox Live or you can buy them in shops. You will get a card where you scratch off the back to reveal a code. You enter this into your console and it will update your account with the points, ready to use.

You can use microsoft points to buy a range of things on the Xbox Live Marketplace. You can buy downloads for games such as the Halo 3 legendary map pack (additional content to add more gameplay). You can also purchase gamer pictures and themes of different games to give your Xbox a personalised custom look.

With a newer update, you can also rent movies for around 300 points, which isn't bad as you can get them in full High Definition quality. If there's something that you really want to buy then there's no way round it other than buying some microsoft points to spend.
