Advantages: Access To Arcade Games, Game Content, Movies, Customise Profile + Dashboard, Classic Games

Disadvantages: Expensive, Not All Games Are Worth It

The Xbox Live Microsoft Points Card is the currency for Xbox Live. You can use the points to buy a huge range of things from classic Xbox games to gamer pictures, themes and arcade games. The Xbox Live Marketplace has grown a lot over the last few months. There is now more than ever to buy as well as community games, which have been created and submitted by ordinary members of the community.

You can get the 2100 point card for around £18.00, but you may find it cheaper online. This isn't cheap, and it makes all the content on the Xbox Live Marketplace quite expensive too. This works out at around £9.00 for a classic Xbox game. You would only have it saved on your hardrive and it's not exactly new, so I don't think it's worth £9.00. However, it is a good feature that you can buy your favourite classics like GTA: San Andreas and Fable.

You can buy gamer pictures, which you can add to your profile. These come in all genres including those from certain games like Call of Duty of Halo. The themes give your Xbox 360 Dashboard a totally unique look as the backgrounds, colours and formats are twigged. These still come in at quite a hefty price but you can buy packs of pictures nowadays and some include themes.

Perhaps the most common purchases with these points would be arcade games. They are created by proper game developers and are just short, simple games that cannot be bought in shops. You can play them, usually online with other players and compare scores with scoreboards. They also have their own achievements, so you can unlock more and increase your gamerscore. Some of the arcade games make use of the Xbox Live Vision Camera and other accessories such as the keyboard, where these may come in use.

Overall, it's a necessity if you are wanting to buy something on the Xbox Live Marketplace, which isn't free. The points aren't cheap to buy, which makes the content expensive. However, you may want the latest update or map pack from a game such as Halo 3 so you will have to get some points to buy these. You can also customise your Xbox 360 Dashboard and profile with these points, but I wouldn't say it's all worth it at £18.00 - only buy them if you have to.

Thanks for reading,
