******* AVOID AT ALL COST ********

Seriously having a frontal lobotomy with a rusty spoon is preferable to dealing with this company...

A friend of mine recently bought a PC, on delivery he installed XP and switched it on to find it blue screened within 5 minutes. Examining the BIOS he found several settings wrong but didn't go as far as to open the case as this supposedly invalidated the warranty.

So one day after taking delivery he rang up to arrange its return.

The Horror story starts here...., the damn phone rings and rings and rings only to be answered by someone who treats you like an annoyance and will say anything that comes to mind in an effort to divert blame from the company and have you just go away.

Apparently it's my friend’s fault the system Blue screen because he’ and not them installed his version of XP and not let them install theirs. (Whatever that means) Anyway after some unpleasant negotiations about where to lay the blame they accept that the system will be sent back for repairs...

So he ships it back to them... they don't contact him to say it's arrived, they don't answer the phone at all, they don't reply to emails simply to confirm the PC has arrived and is with them. After many phone calls someone finally answer... someone who seems to have picked up the phone by mistake thinking it's an internal call *** shock Horror oh F*(K it's a customer! He didn't know anything about anything but goes and finds out that the P.C has apparently just arrived 5 minutes ago.

So they test it (switch it on) and announce that after an exhaustive test (2 minutes up time) it's all ok (not their problem!). My friend by now has had enough and decided to ask for his money back. They say "No!" No discussion just "Not going to happen".

So he's does a bit of research with consumer rights and trading standards and tries again this time claming he's wants his money back under the 7 day cooling off period we all have as a statutory right when making purchases in the U.K. They sound very uncomfortable with this and all manner of B*llsh!t starts coming down the phone.

understand here how the cooling off right works, you simply don't want, wish you'd never spent, didn't like the color of something you've purchased, under Law you can have your money back as long as it's not a special order and is within 7 days of receiving the order (special order explained later in the review).

Reason's for not honoring his right of return.

A. (with glee) AH! You didn't ship it back to us as a RETURN you shipped it back as a REPAIR therefore your not having your money back (i.e. we are declaring your statuary rights null and void).

B. (and this has to be heard to be believed)

If you all look up the 7 day cooling off period right it has a few exemptions to protect companies from consumers taking the pi$$. One such exemption is you cannot return 'custom i.e. bespoke i.e. made to order' goods stateing you simply have changed your mind.

So because my friend when ordering the P.C components used their 'options' button to select say a bigger hard drive than normal or a different graphics card... this apparently now makes the system 'CUSTOM/Bespoke/MADE TO ORDER' and they aren’t honoring his 7 day cooling off return right....!!!!

What these Muppets fail to understand is that exception clause is meant to protect companies against say me ordering a custom built table in the shape of a giant c0ck that shoots fire out of the end when I press a secret button, I mean if I say I simply don't want it under the 7 day cooling off period who the hell could they sell it to.!?

The rule does not cover off the shelf products like the ones that make up a P.C.

Further more the invoice lists all the components with a VAT amount changed against each.

It list the actual P.C as £0.00

So no actual sale has taken place against the P.C as a whole what my friend bought is the individual components, all of which are off the shelf and unaltered. It’s not like he asked for a custom paint job on the graphics card making it a bespoke one off!!!

So that's where we are. They refuse to honor his rights of refund with any old crap they can loosely make fit the problem...

We’ve asked them to confirm in writing that

A. they aren't going to refund the money and are essential ignoring his statuary rights.

B. there definition of a custom system, because by their definition anyone who goes near the 'options' button when specking a system on their sales webpage just kissed their cooling off period rights goodbye.

************* I REPEAT, STAY THE HELL AWAY ***********************
