Advantages: Good products, long lasting hardware, real people contact

Disadvantages: Badly updated website, slooow delivery...very upset colleage (formerly friend)

I have used Eclipse for several years, buying 2 complete systems, various peripherals and a laptop. (The laptop bought in October 2007). To date, the prices have been fair and my own experiences have been reasonably good.

They can be a pain, advertising unavailable products on their website. But in my case, have always had the courtesy to telephone and explain that the ordered item is no longer available, giving the option to choose an alternative or cancel the order. The delivery can also be a bit sloooow.

Unfortunately, I did recommend Eclipse to a colleague who never did receive his system (about 2 months) and was forced to threaten legal action before his payment was refunded.....This was a little concerning, considering my recommendation.

Personally speaking, in comparison to others I have used, the products from Eclipse have always lived up to expectation and have lasted a long time. They do stick silly labels on the system cases warning that your "warranty will be invalid if removed"...I am sure that Eclipse know fully well that their sticker is toilet paper.

As for support, having a basic understanding of PC systems I use, I have never really needed to refer, preferring to resolve problems myself.

Overall, from my own experience, I don't think Eclipse are out to rip anyone off, the products always seem to be good when received. The delivery is sometimes slow and to be perfectly honest, when the item you order is not available, you go for the slightly better item that you "Really" wanted anyway, for a few quid more. Perhaps this is bordering on "hard sell", but from my experience, it has also been good value in view of the time the alternatve has lasted.

I like Eclipse and although very wary of them, particularly in view of my colleagues very bad experience in 2006, will continue to use them until something goes seriously wrong. I know from first hand that others have had extremely bad experiences with this company but I have not.....Maybe I am lucky....
