I used to use Eclipse on a regular basis due mainly to my living nearby and the very competitive prices on offer there. However, I have now sworn never to set foot in the place again.
The first time I had problems with them was when I bought some memory. On returning home I found it to be faulty, so I returned the following day and waited for over an hour to get it tested, only to be told that there was nothing wrong with it. I insisted that it was faulty and they reluctantly exchanged it. I returned home yet again to find that it still didn?t work and to my amazement it appeared to have been used before as the sticker that sealed the anti-static bag had been torn. I returned again the following day and after waiting over an hour to be seen at the returns desk, I explained that I wanted it exchanged for a new, sealed unit or I wanted an immediate refund. I received a new stick of memory with the anti static-bag still sealed and it worked fine when I fitted it.

The second problem I had was with an internal modem that I bought from them. I got the thing home and on opening the box I found that it had quite clearly been used before and hastily repackaged. I fitted it anyway and it came as no surprise when the damn thing didn?t work. I returned it the next day and after a record 2 hour wait at the returns desk I was given a replacement. I opened the box in my car before driving off and to my amazement it too had been previously enjoyed by someone else!
I stormed back in and demanded to see the manager who to my surprise came out to see me and seemed to be physicaly in pain as he very reluctantly agreed to give me a refund and only after I vented my spleen at him, throwing in phrases like ?Trading Standards? and ?solicitor?.

I was never offered so much as an apology on either occasion and I will leave you to draw your own conclusions as to how Eclipse deals with returned faulty goods.

If you want a really good deal with prices equal to or less than Eclipse and a service that is second to none in Coventry then I suggest you try Ballicom Direct in Far Gosford Street.
Since being yet another victim of Eclipse's "Customer Service" and having vowed never to set foot in the place ever again even if it meant giving up computing, I have found and used Ballicom and never been disappointed. The prices are great, the service is excellent and very friendly and they have a very fair returns policy which doesn't include a 2 hour wait to be told that "yes, it is faulty" or "there's nothing wrong with it".
I do not work for Ballicom and have no financial interest in their business except for the money I gladly pay over to them for parts. Believe me they are well worth a look. Forget Eclipse and hopefully if everyone else does the same they will soon be where they deserve to be - out of business.

Yes, as an account of your experience then a good warning but as an objective overview of the company's products/servcies and anything else they do then not very useful, sorry.
