Disadvantages: If your product develops a fault don't bother to send it back to Purely Gadgets

I received my Sony video camera in January this year but Purely Gadgets have turned out to be the worst internet retailer I have ever dealt with. In March, we discovered that it had a faulty connection so we sent it back to for repair. Big mistake - if we ever have a faulty gadget or appliance again we will send it back to the manufacturer.

After six weeks I was beginning to get a bit cross especially as we could never get through on the phone and they didn’t respond to my emails. I contacted the Sony repair centre in South Wales and they didn’t have any record of receiving my camera from the company. After taking legal advice from Trading Standards I sent them a legally worded letter threatening to take action under the Sale of Goods Act which at least got me a prompt reply but they tried to split hairs about working days and offered me a loan camera. As we were going on holiday the following week I accepted provided that it arrived before the day we left. In spite of agreeing to this, they did not send it until that day and it was fortunate a neighbour was available to sign for it while we were away.

When we got back they emailed us to say our camera was ready and would we send back the (unused) loan camera. I asked them to courier our camera and collect theirs at the same time but they wouldn’t do it. In the end I sent their camera back after they promised to refund the £8 postage. No doubt you can guess the rest. Our camera eventually turned up in bubble wrap with no covering letter on 19 June (I had originally send it back on 12 March) and I am still whistling for the postage over a week later. I have emailed them several times and have been met with a wall of silence as usual.

I can honestly say that they are the rudest, most disorganised, and useless company I have ever dealt with and I suspect they are just a bunch of grubby back street merchants who are here today, gone tomorrow.

If you don’t want to share my experience, avoid Purely Gadgets at all costs.

Summary: The worst online retailer I have ever dealt with

I to have had shoddy treatment from this company, found a jvc digital camcorder saving about £20.00 on my normal purchasing sites.
But decided to go for a bundle deal that whith hindsight worked out quite expensive.
the bundle was cam, case, spare hi-power batt,i found to my dismay i could source the batt&case £20.00 cheaper elswhere.
I sent an e-mail after seven days, telling them if the order was not with me in 3 days i would cancel as i needed it for my holidays.
I recieived the cam+case the following afternoon, wich goes to show they react on e-mails when its in there best interests.
Battery was to follow,3/4 days i thought? no it still has not arrived almost 7 weeks on.
I have sent countless e-mails,there phone line always seems to be experiencing problems. I am about to contact my credit card company/legal advice.
Please dont puchase anything from this company they may have a snappy looking website, but there service is a disgrace, Amazon puts them to shame.
