Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick Sheer Tint
by ariel_le
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15
RRP £20. You may think it is extremely extravagant to pay that much for a lip balm when you can buy a tube of Vaseline for £1. However, I have the most chapped and dry lips that no Vaseline can heal. I was always on the hunt for good lip balm, because if my lips were ... chapped, no lipstick would sit well on them. I had always had this lip balm on my wishlist but due to the high retail price, my little pocket did not allow me. However, I stumbled upon the whole 8-hour gift set at TKMaxx for the price of the lip balm alone so I snatched the chance to try the famous 8-hour line by Elizabeth Arden.
Packaging:
The lip balm comes in a white plastic tube with the silver band and the brand name engraved on it. For such an expensive lip product, the packaging looks a bit cheap to me. Nevertheless, I am glad that it comes in a normal lipstick form cause it is much easier to use. I hate when you have to dip your finger in a pot for lip balm because it is not sanitised at all.
Consistency:
The lip balm bullet itself is not easily melted under hot weather. It has a slight herbally scent which is not my favorite but it doesnot bother me that much. The balm itself is clear; the consistency is not thick and sticky at all, which is good.
My experience:
I love the way it applies, the lip balm goes on smoothly and has a slight sheen. The first time I used it was before I went to bed and I woke up with super soft and hydrated lips. That had not happened for a really long time, so I was amazed. I use it during daytime as well. My lips do get very dry and chapped, and I have found that this will relieve both the dryness and the occasional slight cracking or flaking of my lips. Moreover, it keeps my lips hydrated and soft for hours. It also sits well under lipsticks and lip glosses. It is super windy in the UK so I used to have to constantly reapply my lip balm but not with this. The lip balm also has an SPF15 so it protects against the sun too.
The lip balm lasts about 3-4months on daily uses.
Pricing:
As mentioned earlier, the RRP is £20 but Debenhams and House of Fraser do 10% discount all the time so you can get it a bit cheaper on those offers. You can also find them on Amazon and Ebay for £8-£15 depending on the sellers and the time.
Overall, it is an expensive product but if you have very dry chapped lips, it will worth a try, especially when you can get it a bit cheaper online. Read the complete review |

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant
by Captainreview
I have been using Elizabeth Arden 8-hour cream for about 7 or 8 years now. In fact I love it so much that I also have the 8-hour lipstick and hand cream as well!
This really is one of those cult classics that seems to work with all sorts of problems. When you first open it and squeeze a bit out (and a TINY bit is all you need) you ... will notice that it stinks! It has a very recognisable smell which is hard to describe but isn't entirely pleasant. It is all also quite thick and when you apply it, it can take a while to absorb but as it's designed to be applied just before you go to bed (hence the name) this shouldn't be too much of a problem.
So what can you use it on? I have used it on a variety of things including:-
* Minor sunburn
* Peeling on my face (from sunburn)
* Dry, chapped lips
* Dry, cracked skin on my hands and around my fingernails
* Rough, dry patches of skin on my elbows and feet
The routine is usually the same - I apply it before bed and when I wake up in the morning the skin is much drier and in better condition already. After using it for a few nights the difference can be amazing. I also use it throughout the day sometimes, but only on my lips as it is a bit too sticky to use on my hands/body if I'm busy.
I just use it as and when required - sometimes I won't use it for weeks and then I'll use it every day for a while. It really is a great product to have. Read the complete review |

Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Bronzing Powder
by sparkle1004
I love to wear make up and as I have a pale complexion then I need to use a bronzer to give myself a little colour. I already have plenty of different bronzers but I am always ready to welcome more so I was very happy to unwrap the Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Bronzing Powder on my birthday.
What does the product ... do?
The product has been infused with natural minerals which reflect the light to leave you with a radiant and sun kissed complexion. The product promises to give you a lovely bronzed appearance which looks natural and healthy by highlighting the complexion and enhancing your natural skin tone. It also contains skin softening minerals including Chamomile and Aloe Vera which soothe and hydrate the skin. In addition, it contains Silica to cover up imperfections and to blur out the appearance of fine lines. Pearl Pigments help to add a subtle and healthy shimmer to the skin and the addition of vitamins help to nourish the skin.
How do you use the product?
The product comes in a compact and the powder is underneath. You need to twist the top to shave off some of the product and then using a bronzer brush, you sweep the product over the parts of your face where the sun which naturally bronze you such as your cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. You can apply it to bare skin or as a finishing touch on top of make up.
Packaging and Price
The packaging of the product is quite bulky and it does take up quite a lot of room in my make up bag. Nevertheless, it does look classy and expensive. The compact is made out of a shiny golden material and looks lovely. The lid flips open and there is a mirror in the lid for applying the product on the go and there is a section for a small travel brush to be carried. The product is hidden beneath a piece of metal and the powder is released when you twist the top. The product will cost you around £25 for the compact and it can be bought from stores such as Boots and Debenhams, and also from a range of online websites.
Shades
The product comes in three different shades. You can choose between Medium, Soft Radiance or Warm Radiance. I bought the Medium Shade.
Application and Performance
Mineral powders can be a bit messy to use with powder being kicked up everywhere and a lot of it goes to wastage. You don't need to worry about any nasty explosions in your handbag either. Because of the design of the packaging of this product, this doesn't happen. By twisting the shaver half the way round, it shaves off enough product for one application and it rises up to be like fine dust in the compartment. The powder is fine and the brush easily picks it up so you need to tap the brush before applying it to the skin. As I brush the powder onto my skin, it feels really silky and comforting on the skin and it hasn't caused any discomfort or irritations, and it hasn't caused me to develop any blemishes.
The colour of the product works well with my skin and it does seem to adapt to your skin tone because it looks different on my friends skin when she borrows it. It doesn't have any orange tones and it does look really natural on the skin and it blends in well so you won't have harsh edges. It makes you complexion look healthy and it gives you a glow. It isn't overly shimmery but it is shimmery enough to give you a radiance. The finish is even and not patchy at all. It is buildable so you can make it more dramatic for the evening and tone it down for the day. It also feels really soft on my skin. The product is long lasting on the skin and it will still be in place by the end of the day. It is easily removed using my usual make up remover.
Conclusion
All in all, this is a well designed bronzer which allows me to kiss my complexion a natural sun kissed complexion. It makes me look healthy, gives long lasting results and gives my complexion a radiant glow. It is expensive but it matches my skin tone well and the packaging looks classy if a little bulky. I really like this product and I would definitely repurchase it. I'm knocking off one star because of the price but otherwise it can't be faulted. Read the complete review |
