Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant
by cutestkids
Normally the Elizabeth Arden range of skincare products is way out of my price range but after seeing some really great reviews on the 8 hour cream my local Semi Chem shop had a special offer on it and it was £9.99 normally this retails at around £19 - £25.
Packaging
The packaging is clasic Elizabeth Arden ... pearlised white with the 8 logo in very pale grey with a little red detail.
Quantity
The standard size is a 50 ml tube although a travel is size is also available.
What it does
Well to start it is not really a cream in the true sense of the word more of a balm similar in texture to lip balm, the colour is a pale brown
The balm is very effective and can be used in many diiferent ways,
As a lip balm
Around the nails and cuticles
Dry patches on the face
Great for rough skin on elbows, knees and feet
Soothes minor iritations
As a lip gloss
I tend to use it mainly on my lips and as a nail cream, a tiny little bit rubbed into the nails and cuticles every day gives really good results within a couple of weeks and rough, sore patches of dry skin are soothed instantly.
I have also used it for sunburn and found it to be very effective.
The balm does smell a little medicated but it is not a strong smell and not terribly unpleasant certainly something you can live with considering how good the balm actually is.
A tiny little bit goes a very long way, a little bit about half the size of a 5p piece is enough when rubbing it in to your nails on both hands.
A very good cream or balm with many different uses Read the complete review |

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant
by audio99
I first came across the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour skin protectant whilst browsing online, I took notice of the raving reviews but in my mind I always thought that Elizabeth Arden was more for mature skin not young skin. However, over a few months this product was in the back of my mind and I kept having the urge to try it. On payday last ... month I thought do it just buy it. So off I went to Boots and bought this product. It came in a small box at the grand total of £25 it was more than what I normally pay but all of the great things I heard about this product outweighed the price. So for £25 you get a 50ml tube of this miracle product. It has a capped lid at the bottom and is a squeezy tube. On the back of the tube it states that it soothes minor skin irritations and can be used for chapped, peeling, flaking skin due to sunburn, windburn, minor burns. It says that you can use it on cracked lips and scrapes too. Through my research I have found that you can also use it for:
- dry/chapped lips (as above)
- minor skin irritations (as above)
- cuticles
- on eyebrows
- use as a lipgloss
- on elbows and knees
- on spots
- cold sores
- for whole body
You only need to use a small amount too which is great as the product will last for ages. The consistency is not like a normal cream it is of a waxy texture and is orangey-brown in colour. I'm not going to lie, the skin protectant does smell but I honestly think that people make it out that it smells worse than it does. It smells medicated but the smell doesn't follow you around all day, it does go away!! I have not had any comments from others that they can smell it and I wear this every single day.
My experience with this product has been nothing but positive. I had dry cracked lips and literally after the first time I tried this product my lips were soooo smooth...so smooth to the extent where my lips don't have any lines so when I wear lipstick my lips look like they have been airbrushed. On my face, I have used it on random spots which do not want to go away and yes those troublesome spots have now disappeared. Overnight I have used some on my elbows which WERE veryyyy dry and unpleasant to look at but now they are super soft. I haven't tried it on burns as thankfully I have burnt myself. And again, I have tried using it on my cuticles as I am very lucky and the condition of my hands and nails are good. I really would recommend this product. Yes it is expensive but if you think about it you do not need to spend money buying lipglosses etc as you can just use this product. As for using this as a moisturiser on your face daily, I honestly do not know. I have not tried it my face tends to be quite greasy and I think using this would be a bit too thick however, used sparingly I am sure it will be fine. Eventually I do want to start using this on my face daily so I am planning on slowly phasing out using creams etc. The only downside I can think of is that this product does not contain any SPF and I think it is really important especially if they are calling this a 'protectant' that it should have SPF. This product really is for everyone and I love that now when I go on holiday I will save luggage space and weight as I will not need to take all of my skincare products with me I can just take this one.
Honestly believe the hype the uses to this product is endless!!! Read the complete review |

Elizabeth Arden Calming Skin Toner
by Tracy_1127
I've been a fan of Elizabeth Arden items for a few years now after a friend introduced me to them but I don't often buy them as they can be expensive. I do however own a few eyeshadows, a lipstick or two and this toner. I'm not sure how I came to buy the toner as I usually use the No 7 one and this one isn't cheaper than that at ... £12-£13 for a 200ml bottle so I must have had a moment where I thought this would be for me!
The toner is in a pink bottle with an unusual flat lid, there's no purpose to this lid it's just flat. On the back it informs us this is "perfect refreshment for sensitive skin" and is alcohol free and contains "soothing botanicals" which "gently remove lingering traces of cleansers and leave skin feeling refreshed, refined and comfortable". To use sweep over cleansed skin. That's all the information given on the bottle and it does sound good doesn't it? I generally like the descriptions used by Elizabeth Arden and whoever writes them knows how to appeal to women!
I've been using this for a few weeks now as my usual toner ran out and to be honest my sensitive skin isn't in very good shape! I usually suffer from dryness most of the year but during season changes such as now when the weather is hot some days and cool others this tends to give me a spot or two but at the moment I've got several very stubborn spots that don't seem to want to go away. With my normal toner this wouldn't happen and the odd spot I get goes away quickly and without much fuss so I can only put it down to this toner not being very effective at "gently removing lingering traces of cleansers". The No 7 toner always produces some cleanser and a small amount of daily grime on the cotton wool pad so I know it's working but this one doesn't, it looks as though I haven't wiped it round my face at all even though I have.
The actual product is clear and there's no pump or anything to dispense it, you unscrew the flat lid and are met with the top of the bottle so it's one where you tip it onto cotton wool. The main thing I really don't like about this toner though is the smell. With the promise of "soothing botanicals" I actually thought this would smell nice and herby or floral but it smells vile. The closest thing I can think of that it smells like is brandy and I know it doesn't contain brandy so what is that awful smell?! It does contain witch hazel but that isn't the fragrance I'm grimacing over every time this gets near my nose, it really smells nasty and harsh.
It isn't harsh however and doesn't leave skin too tight and dry, it does a bit but nothing my moisturiser can't sort out. To be honest the No 7 one is far superior to this one and I'm finding it difficult to find much positive to say about it.
In summary it smells foul, leaves my skin spotty and doesn't seem to do the job it's meant to. On the plus side I haven't been left with any dry flaky patches but that's the only positive I can find with this product. It certainly isn't worth the price and I'm extremely disappointed with it as I'm usually an Elizabeth Arden fan. Not one I'd recommend and I'm giving it a lowly 1 star rating I'm afraid.
