Advantages: Gives a good colour with a nice finish

Disadvantages: packaging not very good, expensive, comes off when eating, nothing special

Elizabeth Arden's Colour Intrigue lipstick is yet another product I got in a gift set for my birthday. I went through a phase not so long ago where I was purchasing a lot of different lipsticks and lip products and so was pleased to be able to try out another one.

The lipstick comes in a black case which has a gold band and the Elizabeth Arden logo also in gold. Although nice enough to look at I don't think the case particularly looks as expensive as it is, especially when thinking of other lipsticks in a similar price range, such as Dior or Clinique.

The lipstick itself goes onto the lips very smoothly and has a slightly creamy texture. It is also very easy to get a precise finish without using a lip brush as this has a angled tip.

Once applied however, I have found that it feels quite thick and heavy on the lips - it's certainly not weightless as they suggest. As a result, I've found that this is one of those products that I'm aware I'm wearing all the time - a negative point for me, because I want to put my make-up on in the morning and then forget about it, rather than being concious of it 24/7.

The lipstick does however look quite good once it's on. It has a lovely finish - strong colour with a slightly glossy look that makes lips appear dewy and kissable.

Unfortunately, I found that when drinking the colour started to come off slightly. I'd find pink lipstick marks on the edge of my glass, however the lipstick still looked in tact enough so that I did not have to re-apply it.

When eating however, the lipstick started to disappear, and I ended up with the lipstick coming off in the middle, but leaving a ring of colour around the edges of my lips - very attractive!

Having looked online, I couldn't find this lipstick at any of the major Elizabeth Arden stockists such as Boots or Debenhams, but they do have a lipstick called 'Colour Intrigue Effects.' I did however find it a HQHair.com where it costs £14. The fact Boots and Debenhams don't stock it any more leads me to believe that it's probably being discontinued and replaced with the new 'effects' brand. Like the majority of recently discontinued beauty products, however, this still appears to be available at many online stores.

Overall, I wasn't particularly impressed with this lipstick and do not think it is worth £14. Whilst it gives a good strong colour and nice finish, it comes off too quickly and the packaging is too basic to justify the price tag. So whilst it's OK, I don't think I would recommend it.

Summary: Don't bother with this one!
