Advantages: Beautiful colours, easy to apply long lasting
Disadvantages: None
A couple of days ago I was bored and online I started looking through my Freeman's Catalogue (always a mistake!) and I came across some 3 for the price of 2 items and thought oh this is good for a couple of Christmas presents!
So anyway I decided to get my step dad a mini tool kit thingamajigy and my mum an Elizabeth Arden make up set. The set is on offer but can be singly purchased for £6.50.
The third item I got for me, yes you guessed it i got me one as well lol
I'm going to review the eye shadows for this review but it also comes with a blusher and 2 lip glosses which you can buy separately. Its all in a gorgeous flat black case with Elizabeth Arden written on the front in gold small letters and on the back its got details of what is in it. Huge mirror and applicators included. Its a gorgeous looking addition to my make up bag or handbag!
The colours of the eye shadows are Aura and Topaz. They compliment each-other beautifully, one being a rich deep shimmery brown and the other being a pinky shimmering brown. What's nice about this kit is everything matches everything else and the sizes are decent. I'm suitably impressed and just to say the blusher is a shimmery pinky colour and could be worn as an eyeshadow, being a powder too.
What do i think of the eyeshadows....
Beautiful!! Easy to apply, smooth and velvet to the touch on the eyes. Easy to blend, none creasing and feels quality. It doesn't feel heavy and the more you apply the deeper the colour gets without being messy. Long lasting, mine stayed put all day till I chose to remove it The applicators don't let sprinkling of eye shadows fall off it (handy with dark colours) and when you rub the applicator in the shadow it doesn't make a mess and ruin the look of the compact! My eyes looked fantastic using this make up and whats more really easy to remove!
To me this product would be great for someone older who has a bit of class. Be brilliant for a more 'mature lady' as its kind to the skin, non fussy, easy to use and doesn't highlight every imperfection you have. Its shimmery without the glitter and lets face it as soon as we hit our 30s we don't that! lol
Who is Elizabeth Arden?....
Elizabeth Arden was one of the most successful business executives of the 20th century, building a beauty empire. She changed her name to Elizabeth Arden, thinking that was more attractive than her birth name, Florence Nightingale Graham. She pioneered many advertising and marketing techniques.
She used modern mass marketing techniques to bring her cosmetic products to the public. She also opened and operated a chain of beauty salons and beauty spas.
Elizabeth Arden's cosmetics company continues to trade today, and was bought from Unilever in 2003 by FFI, a New York company. They changed their name to Elizabeth Arden, and are listed on the NASDAQ (RDEN). The current 'face' of Elizabeth Arden is Catherine Zeta Jones.
The company continues to offer color coordinated make-up sets, as well as an extensive line of skin care products and treatments. Their newest product is an anti-aging serum for the face and the eye area called Prevage. Unlike, heavy "fluffy" Arden creams of the past, this product utilizes the new science in skin care and is the companies only serum. Despite its high price point, the product has been well received.
Since Arden's death (1966), some of the company's focus has shifted to the development of a number of fragrance lines. The company's signature fragrance is called Red Door, named after their day spas which are called Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salons. .
There are loads of Arden fragrances, cosmetics and skin care to choose from the list is endless!
The cheapest place I've found to make my Arden purchases is TJ Hughes and at the moment the shop has offers on 2 Arden fragrances for £15.00 (30 ml only). As for the make up prices start at about £3.00!
My final thought...
A lovely sophisticated brand, the packaging is lovely and the products (I've tried) have been fantastic!
Summary: I'm converted!
