Advantages: Great as a lip balm and a deel night moisturiser
Disadvantages: Greasy so don't put it all over your face during the day - some may not like the smell (I do)
Friends of mine for years have raved about this cream so when I saw it at duty free in a London airport I thought I'd buy it and give it a go.
I bought a double pack which had two 30ml tubes in - rather small but months later and I haven't finished one of the tubes yet! This cost me about £18 in duty free - so I would say it would cost just over £20 in a normal shop like Boots or Debenhams. You can also get bigger 50ml tubes. Having the double pack was handy though because I can have one in my bags for on the go and one at home so I'm never without one.
I had never laid eyes on it before so was surprised when I started using it that it was more of a weird sticky gel than a normal white cream. The lid on the top screws off and the cream is quite thick in consistency so it comes out quite slowly (which is good - you don't end up splattering it everywhere). The smell is also very strong - almost medicinal but personally I quite like it. The cream is a browny colour so it isn't that attractive looking - but it is a great cream for your skin with many uses as I've found out!
It says on the tube to use it as often as necessary. Once you've put this on your face for the first time you will discover it's very greasy and it stays like that for a good few hours - takes ages to sink into your skin. For this reason you couldn't put this on and go out for the day. It's much better to use this as a night cream - smother it on before you go to bed and wake up the next day with a lovely moisturised face. I however don't do this very often - only about once or twice a month. It's such a deep moisturiser I don't think you need to cover your whole face in it more often than that. However continue using a normal moisturiser every day when you take your makeup off - just replace it with this once perhaps twice a month.
I however do use this every day as a lip balm - it's great for moisturising your lips especially in the winter and it also looks like a lip gloss which is great - much better than a lip gloss too. People I know also use this on dry skin patches to clear them up quickly, on their elbows, as highlighters on cheeks and eyes for makeup and many other things. When I have a really bad cold I always find this is brilliant at putting round your nose to stop your skin getting dry and flakey.
Like I said the smell is strong but I actually really like it. It's something which is always in my bag. I would really recommend this - yes it's a bit pricey but it lasts for ages and ages - I would say the double pack could last you a year if you use it sparingly enough. A great Christmas present for someone - or just a present for yourself! Definitely a must have.
Summary: Great moisturiser - so many uses and lasts for ages so well worth the price tag!

- 14/10/09 It's much cheaper on ebay. I also use mine for chapped lips, cracked elbows and for when I have a cold, great stuff. |
