Advantages: Soothes very dry skin

Disadvantages: Can be greasy

I have to say that I wrote this review just because this product kind of took me by surprise. This was given to me (a trial size) by a friend and I stupidly made the assumption it was a moisturiser. When I looked at the tube it said 'skin protectant' and no more.

On further inspection on the back I realised that with a trial size, added to the fact that my friend didn't give me the box, confused me further. I unscrewed the cap from the white tube and squeezed. Not a lot happened so I squeezed again. Slowly a bronzed coloured substance came out that to be honest looked more like lip balm than cream. I then jumped on the internet and found that this product is meant to soothe, restore, calm and help relieve chapped, cracked or dry skin. Soothes roughness, redness and minor skin irritations. I realised that with one of the ingredients being petrolatum it was no wonder it looked like lip balm. It also has added vitamin E which is always a good ingredient.

However, when you rub this over dry skin you really do need only a tiny amount as this stuff tends to leave a greasy shine. I have found that my little bottle has worked wonders for my lips and leaves them smooth and soft (although the taste isn't too pleasant). When I found out the cost, initially I thought it was quite expensive as a 50ml bottle was £22 in Boots. But after thinking about it I realised it is probably cheaper than using other lip balms which I tend to go mad with because you only use a very small amount. I occassionally use a very small amount to rub into a dry patch on my face but to be honest I don't go too mad with it or I would end up looking very greasy. After the skin has worked it's way in it really does make your skin smoother and I felt that using it sparingly on my face works wonders.

My mum started using this and said that it helped her skin look really moisturised (but she has very dry skin) so overall I think it has a number of uses and is handy. In saying that I wouldn't go out of my way to rush and buy it because I don't use this as a treatment for my face. I find the best uses are lips (especially in the winter), a slick over eyebrows (to keep them in shape), mosquito bites believe it or not (definately helped mine) and general use for dry patches.

Summary: Not bad if you don't mind the price tag
