Advantages: Overtime + Bonus during Christmas was unexpected yet welcome
Disadvantages: Poor service, Faxes rarely arrive, terrible communication internally and with the client/company
I would not under any circumstance, recommend Adecco to anyone looking for employment. I hate to say this, but unemployment would be a better option to you.
Upon accepting my job. I was given no details as to what kind of work I would be doing. I accepted it because I needed the money. There have been two temps after me, and three before who left because they were not given enough information about the vacancy to know if it was right for them. The description given was "Data entry" which is very different to the actual work involved, which is more akin to Web Design.
Some time ago, you would report directly (including sending your timesheet) to your local office, or the one which you were hired through (for some reason they placed me in an office miles away from my place of work, and refuse to move me to a local office), and asked to contact an individual there who would deal with your case. This made things a little more friendly and problems were easier to deal with (such as their fax machines failing to recieve faxes)
My Adecco representative left shortly after I began work, without contacting her clients. Resulting in a failure to pay me for a weeks work because nothing was forwarded on. This issue was finally resolved when my employer became involved. I was finally paid for that week, a month later.
Not long ago things changed, not once but twice, including changes in Fax numbers and names of those to contact, within the space of as many weeks. Now ALL timesheets must be sent to a SINGLE fax number at an office in Keele. Bare in mind, the number of possible temps all attempting to fax their timesheets at once can result in yours never getting through. This was especially bad during the festive season when they insisted all faxes must arrive before 9:30am Friday. Send it early and hope it isn't lost by the end of day.
On every occassion, they lost my timesheet, or failed to recieve it. I have sent Faxes from every machine at my company and been given the same reply upon calling. "We haven't recieved it, can you send it again?"
Trying to contact anyone there to discuss problems with my wage not being paid correctly has been to date, next to impossible, the few times I have managed to reach someone there. I was quickly palmed off to some other number, which was either unavailable (disconnected from service), hung up on, or always set to voice mail. Note, my telephone voice to date regarding their inability to run the company correctly has been far more plesant than my tone presented here.
They insisted and refused to believe that they're information about the company I am working for was incorrect. Claiming an Adecco representative worked in the building opposite the one I was in. This was a garage for another company and not related to my at all. After much convincing. They finally accepted that not only was I not in the building they thought. But I wasn't even in the same town.
They insist that Fax machines are not instant, and that they must wait 30 minutes for the Fax to arrive. This is news to me.
Out of the blue, they began paying my wage into a completely different account under someone elses name. Then insisted it was mine, and gave no apology or clue as to why it suddenly changed. After two hours of chasing various numbers I found that the details of an account which should never have been on their system, had replaced mine, with no explanation or warning. As of writing this, I am still unable to recieve my wage into my account. It is only by pure luck that the owner of said account has gladly written me cheques to deposit the money owed to me. Otherwise I would not have recieved anything as Adecco claim they are "not in error".
I have not been paid in two weeks, as they claim they have not recieved my timesheet, having sent it more than 15 times. The representative, who said, once she recieved a copy of it, would fax it to them herself. Has been unavailable since last Friday to find out if it ever got through.
They say they will call you back, then never do.
Those in Keele are unresponsive and rude when asked about problems with timesheets.
Upon calling and catching a human being at Keele. I was given two Fax numbers to try. When I called back to ensure my Timesheet had arrived. I was told that they only have ONE fax machine, and do not even recognise the second number given to me by one of their own employee's
To add insult to injury, they have recently been sending out letters telling people that the level of quality regarding the timesheets returned is unacceptable. I find this hypocritical considering they have failed on so many occassions to do their jobs correctly.
My time at this company (which in contrast has made me feel like an old member of the family and have treated me with the respect I never thought temps would get) will shortly come to an end. While I will miss my work collegues. I am looking forward to no longer relying on Adecco to pay my wage, it has been a fiasco from the beginning and I have spent more time on the phone to them, than I have actually doing my job.
I urge you to very carefully consider your options before choosing to work through Adecco. You may not be so lucky.
Summary: Adecco have gone from bad to worse in such a short time, please use another agency to avoid problems
