Advantages: They get you interviews
Disadvantages: They never call to tell you if you were successful
Adecco, why did I even bother going back with you? I registered with Adecco last year at their branch in the Strand. The actual registering process & interviews were fairly painless, pretty standard from what I have done with other agencies. Luckily after regsitering I was offered an interview for a vacancy I was interested in. Interview went ok & the girl at the agency seemed quite convincing in her interest as to how I got on. That was the last I heard about the job, to this day I still don't know how I did, luckily in that time I found another job. Fast forward to the present day. I was made redundant a few months ago as my employer went bust. So it was back on the rollercoaster ride that is the employment agency. I found a job that interested on one of the on-line job sites, and just my luck, it was through Adecco. Luckily I had already registered with them last year, so I won't have to go through the tests & all that registration stuff. But it was through a different branch, what obsticles could this throw up I wondered? Well, not that many!! I called the branch in Euston Road up, explained I was interested in a vacancy & that I had registered at the Strand office. They got my CV & typing test results from them & it was looking good. I got a call the next day saying that I had an interview, they sent me a job spec, directions & a web address so I could do some research. For some reason Adecco insist on you going to their office an hour before the interview itself, which really bugs me, I like to be focused on the interview, not worrying that I may not have enough time to get there. I got to Adecco office & the girl there showed me the job spec "thanks, yeah you sent me that", the web page "yeah, you already told me that", this is where they are "yeah, I know the address & look, I have an A-Z" What a total waste of time, they treat you like you have never had an interview in your life, I'm 32 not 16!! <
br><br> Well (phew this is getting long), the interview went well & I awaited a call from the Adecco girl (as promised) for some feedback. That call never came, so I called her the next day & said I was interested in the job. Then I waited, and waited and waited. Almost a week went by, not a word. So I called the branch & was told that both the Adecco girl & the girl who interviewed me at the job interview are off sick. I asked why I was never told this as I had been sitting by the phone for a week for a call? They aplogised & said they would get the Adecco girl to call me on Monday. Monday came, no call. I snapped, I contacted the regional office & explain what had (or hasn't) happened. They apologised & said they would chase it up for me. Next day I got a call from the branch manager (oooh, big man!!) and was told about the people being off sick etc & what could we do if we don't know ourselves? I suggested in no uncertain terms that you could pick up a phone & ring me & let me know, at least I wouldn't be sat there for days on end waiting for a call which I'm never going to get. Well, it's now been 3 weeks since the interview, I still don't know whats going on, I still haven't had any calls & the last time I called them all the relevant parties were still off. All in all I'm a very pissed off chap. I know I'm just a name on a bit of paper for these people, but I have rent & bills to pay & I need to find work & these guys are doing nothing to help. Update!! It's now been a month. Still have had no calls etc. I wish they would offer it to me just so I could tell them where to go.

- 31/07/02 Surely it should be standard practice for the files to be taken over by someone else if staff are off work. Hope you find something suitable soon. |

- 30/07/02 I think that it is insane asking candidates to attend the office one hour before an interview! Sheesh... I usually turn up to interviews half an hour early to check out the area and make sure I'm calm and composed. |

- 30/07/02 I can understand that they can't call everyone. But surely they must have some system set up were other peoples work is covered if someone is off sick? E.G. Sorry I can't come in today, I'm sick. Please chase up this guys interview that he had". Every job I have ever had, there has always been some sort of work cover, obviosly not here. |
