Newest Review: ... attack I had. My face just went down a little and you could tell easily when I had shaken their hands it felt like I was sweating! As the questions began my body language and eye contact was getting bad. When I was asked some direct questions such as how much experience I had and what could I offer, I just never looked at the faces of the interviewer's! Instead I would look on the table and answer the questions. The strange thing is when they asked me to describe my self them to about my self I did not know what to say!!! Instead all my response was that basically I was a student to sum it up. So much panic in me and the questions were n... more

This interview took place working for a travel agents company and I was hoping everything would go fine for me. It was a interview after a while so I needed the job and was really hoping I would get it. There was not one interviewer but there was two! This was the first panic interview attack I had. My face just went down a little and you could tell easily when I had shaken their hands it felt like I was sweating! As the questions began my body language and eye contact was getting bad. When I was asked some direct questions such as how much experience I had and what could I offer, I just never looked at the faces of the interviewer's! Instead I ...  Read the complete review

It was my first interview, and I had overactive butterflies in my stomach for about a week and a half before the actual thing. On the day, I turned up extra specially early and waiting outside in my mum's car before it was time for me to go in. Thankfully, I managed to get into the building OK, and was led into a little room to wait, but I should have realised how awful the thing was going to turn out to be when my interviewers got held up and I was stuck in the room waiting for half an hour! Finally, after I'd had long enough to let my nerves fester and get a real good grip on me, I was ushered into another room for my actual ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Interview horror stories: What job did I apply for?! (317 words)

A long time ago, in my third year at university, everyone was applying for jobs. So, I thought it was time to root through the Careers Centre Filing cabinets for an application form or two. With good intentions, I took the forms home to complete over the Christmas holidays. I soon forgot about the forms until I stumbled over them 1 day before the last Christmas Post Day. I filled in the form which looked the easiest and the shortest. It was for a job at the Head Office of a well known supermarket. I filled it in rather quickly and sent it off. I completely forgot about the form, when one day in March a letter appeared at my university address. I had got ...  Read the complete review

I was working for an advertising agency on their graduate programme. I had been there about nine months. I hated it and I had handed in my notice. I wanted to cross industries (never easy to do) to move into banking. I didn't give myself much hope. As a career changer I faced an uphill battle to convince anyone I was serious. A problem made harder by the fact that I had no banking experience at all. I am not saying this to raise my own profile and blow my own trumpet. But you have to understand the situation, to appreciate what I was about to go through. The odds of me getting into advertising had been poor. There were over 1,000 applications for three places. As ...  Read the complete review

I went to my first "milk - round" interview just before Christmas 1998, student parties were in full swing, course work was being piled on & I had an interview! The first mistake I made was bad preparation, sure I'd read the brochure & filled out the application form but did I know anything about the company? Did I heck!! So the night before was the Christmas piss-up for the canoeing club (with whom I used to play canoe polo); I had good intentions, it took 3 people phoning to get me out & even then I was only gonna stay till about 22:00, yeah right!!! So the morning of the interview, I've gotta be there at 09:30, I woke up about 08:30, plenty of time, except ...  Read the complete review
