Express Review on Job Centre

It does seem to be that to work in a job centre you have to be quite arrogant and look down on those that come in.
Now I apologise for those of you who are nice but I have yet to meet you.

Introduction What is the Job Centre? By the sound of it you may think these guys are going to get me a job or find me one! Nah that is not the case really instead they are there to help you look for work or claim for a number of benefits. Its been one month now since I left coming to here since finding a new job and I would to tell you ...  Read the complete review

Job Centre: The Website Right from when I first left school and needed a job for the summer until sixth form, and then after sixth form until now, the only job hunting place I've ever really used is the Job Centre. I've tried a few others too, such as Reed (but was told this was only for office work and I had no experience, so was ...  Read the complete review

I am anxious that this review does not, in parts, sound as if I am being in any way condescending- it is not my intention- and if it comes across that way- I am sorry. My opinion is that I don't think the Job Centre staff were prepared for the credit crunch. They are not geared up for dealing with job seekers who are very well educated ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Job Centre and Site Review (190 words)
by - written on 23/07/09 (Useful, 50 readings)

I think the Job Centre website is fantastic for finding work. The searches make the jobs selected suit the specification you may have. However I find the actual Job Centres to differ from centre to centre. I have had experience with three different Job Centres and have found that the service style is inconsitent as well as the quality of the ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on Job Centre
by Discouraged - written on 18/07/09

I think the site on a whole has alot of advantages, although could be improved upon.Take for instance when no employer details are supplied, non bt landlines are charged high rates to make calls.Doesnt anybody think this through?.People who are unemployed, and dont have a bt landline are at a great disadvantage of running up a huge phone bill. When i queried this at my nearest jobcentre i was told to use the phone there.Honestly, what is the point of going online in the first place!!!!!.
Also if you have no option but to make the call from home, some herbert now and again runs off a load of useless information that is given on the site anyway.Take the time i applied for a driving job,and was asked if i had a driving licence....priceless!!.Not when i have to pay for the call, thankyou.

I have recently had some experience with the Job Centre. It has been a good thing for me, because now I know what it feels like. Quite a few of my students were doing ICT training courses with me so that they could get jobs or better jobs. They would quite often come in and tell me that they had to stop coming for their ICT sessions, as the Job ...  Read the complete review

I sent a thank you to you by mistake! Your bloody column just annoyed me, with its Im alright Jack mentality. Its that very Margaret Thatcher look after yourself to the exclusion of everyone else, ethos that got us into this mess in the beginning. I work closely with the Jobcentreplus in the type of work I do. My first experience when I was off sick from my work with the Jobcentre was okay, nothing to shout about. I was not on sickness for very long so I assume they were not very much interested in me. Then I went from Sick Pay to Jobseekers allowance and then they could not ...  Read the complete review

Today I had the pleasure of signing on. It was an experience that tought me more of how deprieved our nation is becoming. The jobcentre was over-crowded with an atmos(fear) of fear and more worrying there was a lot of frustration in the air. It would not surprise me if crime hits our nation hard as it becomes more of a dog eat dog world. ...  Read the complete review

After being made redundant about 6 weeks ago, I needed some income and although I dreaded it I decided to sign on at my local job-centre. Job centres are a very strange place. Firstly you are greated by security, which doesnt fill me with hope, who check your name to make sure you have an appointment. You are then shown to a waiting area, where you wait for ages, way past your appointment to talk to an advisor who treats you as if you know nothing and are quite abrupt and rude. I think for anyone who has to sign on, a visit to the job centre is pretty depressing. I sign on on a monday morning, and I can't get out of the place soon enough. I'm not sure if the decor is meant to be depressing or not, but my local job centre is very dull and dingy. When i signed on for the first time I was given some info about how the ...  Read the complete review

I regularly visit the job centre website or in store to try and find jobs for many years now and I must say that the jobs that are advertised on there are awful there is certainly no jobs on there for around the £20,000+ its mainly £12,000 a year jobs being advertised.
