I received a phone call from 'Office Angels' city branch and they told me to come into the office and get me onto the books for some employment that would suit my needs. As it was based in the City of London, I did not hesitate and I said 'yes' as I liked the idea of working in the City of London as it is my dream to work there somewhere even as a waitress or a shop assistant! But Office Angels as in the title, is more aimed at office based work such as receptionist, HR and admin.
Although they signed me onto the books as usual, and there was me hoping I would get an offer for employment in a week or so. Sadly, I didn't and still waiting nearly a month later. Again, I felt like I wasting my time again and could had made my time more useful by sending endless CVs out. As well, I sent my CV to this company a silly amount of times and they never response to you, although it might be the fact I do not fit the job description. Which could be the case. The only thing I would say that was good about the company was some friendly staff.
I recently worked for Office Angels,They tell me they have jobs that urgently need filling(like a day) and then take a week to turn it aroundOn a job with them they have a bad attitude for no reason and constantly spoke to me like something on the bottom of their shoe, they were not very understanding or compassionate in times of difficulty, I landed the role, but the job description was inaccurate and then refused to help me arrange my time sheet when I was ill off work the day it was due in, claiming 'They would have to speak to their manager'I then left and have seen no money from this company whatsoever. I'm thinking of approaching the Solidarity foundationhttp://www.solfed.org.uk/office-angels-dispute-update
I recently signed up with the Office Angels recruitment agency in Basingstoke. It was the first time I'd signed up with an agency so I wasn't sure what to expect. I initially phoned them to arrange a meeting. I explained my situation, experience and requirements over the phone and the lady I spoke to immediately recommended me a job they had on their books.
10 minutes later I was in their office filling in the registration forms. Everyone I spoke to were very friendly, enthusiastic and energetic. I discussed the roles I wanted to apply for with an advisor and left feeling good about the experience.
Throughout the application process they kept in touch and kept me up to date with what was happening with my applications, offering advice, hints and tips when needed.
They have now helped me to secure a full time position in the area of work I was looking for. From signing up to receiving the offer took about 2 weeks so I am very happy with their service.
They had a broad range of roles on offer which were clearly displayed in their office windows and also available to view online.
Having not experienced the temping side of their business I cannot comment or review this.
I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a role in the sectors they specialise in. Also for any guys reading this, don't be put off by the name. I'm a man and nobody raised an eyebrow at me being an office angel!
hi can anyone tell me what sort of tests do they do at office angels??
Previous reviewers are correct in saying that the manager is a 'snotty-nosed cow'. She is exceedingly patronising on the telephone and in person she looks as though she has been smacked by the tango guy, as have most of the other employees. She greatly lacks in people skills. The woman who deals with the permanent vacancies never returns calls or emails (I was placed in temp but wanted perm) no matter how many times you contact the office, and if you go in, she fobs you off saying she will call you or that the vacancy has gone (if there even was one). The only good thing about OA is Jane. She is a credit to them and they don't deserve her. Lovely girl.
I can honestly say I have never had a worse experience of any service provider. At best I would say my experience was a result of general incompetence, at worse, down right dishonesty. Either way, a terrible experience so I would recommend you steer very clear of the reading branch, plenty of straight dealing agents in the area that seem to be doing a better job.
Never call you back, hardly ever contact you, except to email a "you weren't successful" despite applying for jobs where CV demonstrated complete match with required skills and experience. Not impressed with anything about this company. It would be much more beneficial to offer a means to discuss the application and what was required where jobs which appear to be a match are not. I am none the wiser as to why a training role I applied for was not accepted, despite several years experience in a relevant field. This needs to be looked into and an appropriate response should be offered, not just n email stating the application was not accepted with no reason whatsoever. I attempted to call the person I needed to speak to but to date, I have had no response to my attempt to have a professional conversation regarding the application for a job i was very qualified to do.
i had a really bad experience with office angels i went for the mini interview and did all the tests gave them all my information and went home... didnt hear from them for 3 weeks untill i went into a cafe and saw the lady who interviewd me at office angels "im so glad iv seen you i have lost your information could i have you number and ill call" gave her my number and she never called this has been a year now.would NOT RECOMMEND
I've recently finished temp work with Office Angels (Sutton Coldfield branch (recently relocated from W-ton)) and would recommend anyone looking for work to give them a go. I initially trawled the agencies looking for summer work in 2007 and admittedly walked into OA in jeans and with hair scraped back, gave a CV to someone that worked there and never heard a thing.
Summer 2008 I spent a day going round agencies again but dressed much more suitably i.e. as a professional that someone would want to employ. Tried OA again and spoke to a different person who was extremely welcoming and invited me to register (the difference could've been due to the way I looked or it being a different person, but I'd still stick with the presentable look!). I had work all of that summer and even won £30 in House of Fraser vouchers just for doing little competitions they'd send in the post.
This summer has been the same story; I didn't have to re-register, just emailed the consultant who I'd dealt with last year and was offered work again. I was put into an admin role that turned out to involve more than was initially described (due to the employers, not OA) but after speaking with my manager and OA, I received a payrise.
I had a week off sick which I couldn't really afford to do but, without my mentioning anything, my OA consultant asked if I wanted the holiday I'd accrued processed for payment so that I wouldn't be without money. I was more than happy with this as I have had experience with other agencies 'forgetting' to let me know about holiday pay I'd accrued. (I've realised just how much holiday pay I haven't been paid as I've worked for agencies on and off since 2001.)
Now I've started my teaching career, I let my consultant know and she's now processing the rest of my holiday pay and P45. I was actually offered a job by OA for the Xmas period which I would've taken if it wasn't for teaching being my priority now.
With every company, you're going to get the people that really couldn't care less and I think we tend to vent bad experiences more than the good, so I wanted to say that bad experiences don't have to tarnish a company.
Having read some reviews, some people might think that their work history means they should walk into new jobs, (I had 6 years of good admin background when first took my CV (wearing jeans)) but I believe first impressions count for everything and, in the world of work, unfortunately you're always having to prove yourself as there is always someone else that would be grateful of your job.
I think OA have a great work philosophy; I would definitely recommend them over any other agency I have worked for. I hope this review was helpful.
When i first entered the Bromley Office Angels office I thought that this agency would be a great agency to register with, it looked professional busy with vacancies in the window. The consultant that took my cv told me to forward my CV by email also and then i would be able to register fully, she also gave me her card for a contact at the office. After sending my CV by email I waited a week and heard nothing so I called the agency bk and spoke to the consultant that had taken my cv. She couldn't even remember me, when i told her i had sent the CV she finally found it. The agency found me work but not matching what i was looking for, they paid me incorrectly by not putting my travel wings bonus in even though i signed a contract for it. I asked them why and they said maybe someone forgot to tick the box in the office? Another position came up and the agency wanted to put me forward for it but they had lost my cv, this happened several times and i had to keep forwarding it. In the end i left a position that they had sent me to as they told me it was admin, it wasn't, it was working in a call centre, once again they haven't paid me correctly. I spoke to them with respect as i appreciated their help in finding a job but they were rude, did not know what they were talking about and showed lack of knowledge in their profession. I would not reccomend Office Angels to anyone, when i tried to leave the agency they started an argument and now i'm owed money, i can't get hold of them by phone or email so i have had to takethis tothe tax office and they have advised me to call the advice bureau.
I applied for a job through office angels in Preston Lancs, i have 3 years experiance as a manager in a busy service centre with various awards, I was made redundant, one of their very unhelpful staff called me and basically ridiculed me for applying for a team leader role, she made comments that i was not experianced andi was a fool for applying, she then put the phone down with that good luck manner, I did get the job but only through another agency who put me through for it . They are rude and are probably more scared that people with decent CVs and work ethic will take their own jobs.
I visited Office Angels to register and was surprised by the terms of their contract. It basically stated they would only ensure that I would be given 400 hours work in any 12 month period and that I wasn't allowed to work for any other agency whilst the contract was in force. That says to me that if they didn't give me a job over and above the 400 hours I would be breaching the contract if I worked elsewhere which would in turn leave me open to being sued. I declined to sign it and was told that no one else had a problem with the contract. I don't care if no one else had a problem with it - it was an unfair contract and treats the temp like an idiot.
I joined Office Angels and they found me my current job which is a full-time permanant position and I am now employed by a well known large company.
When I intitially joined Office Angels, I needed to take proof of identity and address, and also have my NI number. I also took along a hard copy of my c.v.
The recruitment consultant I met with was really friendly and put me at ease. She asked me lots of questions, for example what experience I had, what type of job I would like to do, what wouldn't I enjoy, it felt like she was genuinely interested and wanted to find out what I wanted to do rather than what jobs were available. She also gave me her card, so I could easily contact her with any queries.
After my initial chat, I also did a spelling test, maths test and typing test, none of which were too hard, and there was no pressure!
I was put forward for a job in a call centre and my recruitment consultant gave me lots of good interview tips and gave me alot of infomation about the job, and what the job actually involved. After the first interview, I was called about an hour later by Office Angels to say I had got through to the second interview!
After my second interview, I was again given advice on what type of questions to expect, I went to the interview feeling well prepared and supported. Shortly after my interview I was called by my consultant at Office Angels to tell me I had the job!
Now I am still working for the company and I don't think I could have done it without Office Angels!
I joined Office Angels when I became redundant last year. I had been recommended Office Angels from a friend, so decided to pop in and sign up. My local Office Angels office is in my local town centre (Maidstone - Kent).
** What's good about Office Angels**
I have always been a little bit dubious when it came to recruitment agencies, my last recruitment agency I joined the staff didn't seem to care about what you wanted, and would just place you in any job so they could make some money from you working. However, I decided to give Office Angels a go because my friend had nothing but good things to say about them.
I called Office Angels and was able to get an appointment that afternoon. As soon as I walked through the door a member of staff came over to me and greeted me in a warm manor, and asked if I wanted a drink whilst I waited.
The sign up process was very easy, and after they had taken all my details I was asked to sit a few simple tests, spelling, excel, word, which were all very easy. At the end they will get a print out of your results and from that work out what sort of role would suit you.
I went on the permanent job waiting list, and because they had no jobs available at that time, I also put my name down for any temp jobs that came in.
Everyday a member of staff at Office Angels would call and ask how I was, and just have a catch up on how my job hunt is going, and would run through any jobs that had come in that day. I liked that fact they called because sometimes you feel forgotten about, and then start to panic a little.
During my time at Office Angels I was placed on 3 temp jobs, 2 short positions, and one six month position. I was also contacted every other day and told about possible permanent jobs that's were available.
** Worst bits about Office Angels**
The only problems I had during my time at Office Angels was the mess up in wages every week. In order to get paid you need to complete a weekly time sheet and send it back by Monday morning to get paid that Friday. I always faxed mine back Friday afternoon to make sure I was paid, but sometimes they would mess up timesheets and not put them through in time for payment that following week. I only had this happen a few times, but Office Angels sorted it out for me very quickly and paid me later on in the week.
Office Angels is definitely a look better than some of the other recruitment agencies. I found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful, and always went above to beyond to make sure they found you suitable work.
Easily the worst recruitment agency by a mile, they will tell anyone gullible enough to sign up with them who is looking for permenant that "this is temporary but leading to permenant if they are happy with you," if it means you fill the role & thus for them their cut of your wage.Decline any such offer, and their staff are rude and aggressive, even going so far as insinuating that they will let the Jobcentre know you turned down a job to try and get your dole stopped.Recruitment agencies tend to unscrupulous at the best of times, but this lot are the worst of an evil breed.
