Many moons ago I used to work for a recruitment company. It dealt with sales people. Its key market was the people who were earning 25k a year basic however we would also recruit for jobs that were 15k and upto 80k. That meant we had all sorts of people coming into the office and meant that you had to have a variety of approaches to deal ... Read the complete review

Recruitment agencies insult qualified and experienced tradesmen by offering them £10.00 Gross! Having just applied for an agency construction job during a lull this summer I was appalled at the wage offered and also not fully explained or discussed I think the agency was pocketing more per hour than I was, talk about parasitic! The Government should be looking in to their underhand methods and making sure they are paying a proper and appropriate wage to their tradesmen. Never again will I use an agency.

The purpose of Recruitment Agencies is to help you find work but they are not exactly what people think they are. Recruitment agencies look for experience more and any one who is a student or who has never worked before should not even think about coming to one as they would not even bother considering you for any role at all. I have been to many ... Read the complete review

I moved from Ireland to England in Febuary this year to live with my now fiance. I have a law degree, but knowing there isn't much call for solicitors during the recession (and frankly being fed up of law) I came over looking for any job available to bring in some money. I signed up with 7 recruitment agencies when I came over. What ... Read the complete review

It seems to be the generally accepted route of getting a job. You register at a recruitment agency and then the rest is taken care of for you right?. Unfortunately this preconception is almost completely false. I have registered with almost 25 agency's and so therefore I feel in a good position to describe my own experiences. Despite ... Simply Media
Simply media is meant to be a recruitment agency for media jobs in london,
instead what you will find is very unprofessional people who will call you get you to come in, find out wher eyou worked, your bosses name (so they can call them and get more business) and then say to you hmmm not sure if we have anything even though your cv is good and they call you saying the opposite.
AVOID THEM AT ALL COST IF YOU WANT TO GET A REAL JOB!
good agencies for media is handle or jam (both in london)

Having recently written a review about www.reed.co.uk, I am still in the mood to write about agencies, so 'recruitment agencies in general' is the perfect topic for me. I mentioned this in my reed review and will mention it again here just as it will help to understand what use agencies are. I finally got a job this week after around ... Read the complete review

Its a well known fact that Agencies or should I say Employment Business's ( there is a very imprtant difference ) are liars and crooks. I have worked for many of these empolyment agencies and they are all the same. The less they pay you the more profit they make. The funny thing is that they talk to so many workers they cant remember what ... Read the complete review

Now, anyone who's read my profile will know that I used to be a recruitment consultant - which seems to be kind of on par with admitting to being a traffic warden, lawyer or wicked witch of the west. Recruitment consultants have a bad reputation for lying, sneaky behaviour and trying to take your money - all of which can be true but not ... Read the complete review

I dealt with a lot of different recruitent agencies all over the country when I found my placement and my job and dealt with a lot of interesting people. Obviously they are good to help you find a job and act in between yourself and a potential employer so neither of you look pushy or rude, but here are some bad ... Read the complete review

On first look, the role of a recruitment agency is relatively simple, and should be instantly effective - to act as the go-between to provide an employer with a suitable candidate for the role, and also to provide a jobseeker with that all important employment opportunity. However, it doesn't work out as simple as that, as there is naturally ... Read the complete review

I'm sure that you are all aware of the recruitment process so I will not be covering this in my review. Currently I work for an accountancy practice and it has always been my intention to qualify within practice, gain some post qualification experience and then venture out in to the dog eat dog world of industry and commerce. Like many ... Read the complete review

Whilst applying for jobs recently, I responded to a position in Amsterdam, advertised by MA Associates Worldwide. Billy Jenkins was the contact, and after reading my CV and website, he informed me he would email me a detailed job spec, and forward another web development job in Amsterdam which was also suitable. 1 week later I had received ... Well, from today I decided to passionately despise the so called recruitment agencies. I know some are ethical and follows their industry standards, but the one I had to speak to today (I can shout out their name here, they're Adept-Recruitment) was overbearing beyond belief. It's so despairing and really boils my blood to think that these ... Read the complete review

It is very clear that your experience was 30 years ago and also HIGH STREET recruitment! Having worked in a recruitment agency as a consultant and having worked for many years with different recruitment agencies I have a fair understanding of how they work. To this day I get contacted by half a dozen new or different agencies a week and it's tough being tough but I don't have time to listen to the same old spiel every time - "I ... Recruitment Agencies? Where shall I start... It's true that they provide a service to Employers - filtering through applications to weed the hopeful from those eminently suitable, and indeed, from a prospective Employee's point of view, a single point of contact can make it easier to access a wide range of jobs with minimal ... This review is for those who are looking for a job first time or looking for a career switch. Experienced personnel in any industry are not the targeted audience for this review.
